अथर्ववेद (कांड 11)
उत्ति॑ष्ठत॒ सं न॑ह्यध्व॒मुदा॑राः के॒तुभिः॑ स॒ह । सर्पा॒ इत॑रजना॒ रक्षां॑स्य॒मित्रा॒ननु॑ धावत ॥ (१)
हे उदार गुणों वाले सेनानायको! अपने झंडों के साथ उठो और युद्ध के लिए चलो. तुम कवच आदि पहन कर युद्ध के लिए तैयार हो जाओ. हे सर्पो की आकृति वाले देवो! हे राक्षसो! तुम भी हमारे शत्रुओं के पीछे दौड़ो. (१)
O commanders of generous qualities! Get up with your flags and walk to war. You get ready for war by wearing armor etc. O god with the shape of serpents! O demons! You also run after our enemies. (1)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 11)
ई॒शां वो॑ वेद॒ राज्यं॒ त्रिष॑न्धे अरु॒णैः के॒तुभिः॑ स॒ह । ये अ॒न्तरि॑क्षे॒ ये दि॒वि पृ॑थि॒व्यां ये च॑ मान॒वाः । त्रिष॑न्धे॒स्ते चेत॑सि दु॒र्णामा॑न॒ उपा॑सताम् ॥ (२)
हे शत्रुओ! वज्र के अभिमानी देव त्रिषंधि तुम्हारा राज्य छीन कर अपने अधिकार में करें. हे वज्रात्मक देव! तुम्हारे जो लाल झंडे आकाश में उत्पात के रूप में उत्पन्न होते हैं तथा भूलोक में मनुष्य संबंधी हैं, तुम उन के साथ आओ. (२)
O enemies! Trishandhi, the arrogant god of Vajra, take away your kingdom and take possession of it. O wonderful God! Come with your red flags that arise as mischief in the sky and belong to humans in the earth. (2)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 11)
अयो॑मुखाः सू॒चीमु॑खा॒ अथो॑ विकङ्क॒तीमु॑खाः । क्र॒व्यादो॒ वात॑रंहस॒ आ स॑जन्त्व॒मित्रा॒न्वज्रे॑ण॒ त्रिष॑न्धिना ॥ (३)
लोहे के समान मुख वाले, सूई के आकार के मुंह वाले, बहुत से कांटों जैसे पंखों वाले पक्षी, गिद्ध आदि मांस भक्षी पक्षी और हवा के समान तेजी से उड़ने वाले पक्षी, हमारे जिस शत्रु के आसपास मंडराते हैं, वे वज्र से मारे जाएं. (३)
Those with iron-like faces, needle-shaped mouths, many thorn-winged birds, meat-eating birds like vultures, and birds flying as fast as the wind, around our enemy, should be killed by thunderbolts. (3)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 11)
अ॒न्तर्धे॑हि जातवेद॒ आदि॑त्य॒ कुण॑पं ब॒हु । त्रिष॑न्धेरि॒यं सेना॒ सुहि॑तास्तु मे॒ वशे॑ ॥ (४)
हे जातवेद अग्नि! आदित्य देव अर्थात् सूर्य को आकाश में गिरते हुए शवों के शरीरों के द्वारा ढक दो. त्रिषंधि नामक देव से संबंध रखने वाली यह सेना भलीभांति मेरे वश में हो, जिस से मैं शत्रुओं को मार सकूं. (४)
O jataved agni! Cover Aditya Dev i.e. the sun with the bodies of the bodies falling into the sky. This army, which belongs to the god named Trishandhi, should be well under my control, so that I can kill the enemies. (4)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 11)
उत्ति॑ष्ठ॒ त्वं दे॑वज॒नार्बु॑दे॒ सेन॑या स॒ह । अ॒यं ब॒लिर्व॒ आहु॑त॒स्त्रिष॑न्धे॒राहु॑तिः प्रि॒या ॥ (५)
हे देव जाति के अर्बुदि नाम के सर्प! तुम अपनी सेना के साथ उठो. हमारा यह बलि कार्य तुम्हारी तृप्ति करने वाला हो. त्रिषंधि देव की जो सेना है, वह भी बलि प्राप्त होने के कारण शत्रुओं का विनाश करे. (५)
O serpent named Arbudi of the god race! You get up with your army. May this sacrificial act of ours satisfy you. The army of Trishandhi Dev should also destroy the enemies due to the sacrifice. (5)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 11)
शि॑तिप॒दी सं द्य॑तु शर॒व्ये॒यं चतु॑ष्पदी । कृत्ये॒ऽमित्रे॑भ्यो भव॒ त्रिष॑न्धेः स॒ह सेन॑या ॥ (६)
श्वेत चरणों वाली गाय, चार चरणों वाली हो कर तथा बाणों का समूह बना कर हमारे शत्रुओं को प्राप्त हो. हे कृत्यारूपिणी गौ! तू त्रिषंधि देव के समान हमारे शत्रुओं का संहार करने वाली बन. (६)
The cow with white feet, with four steps and making a group of arrows, should our enemies get it. This is the act! You become like Trishandhi Dev, the destroyer of our enemies. (6)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 11)
धू॑मा॒क्षी सं प॑ततु कृधुक॒र्णी च॑ क्रोशतु । त्रिष॑न्धेः॒ सेन॑या जि॒ते अ॑रु॒णाः स॑न्तु के॒तवः॑ ॥ (७)
हमारे शत्रुओं की सेना माया से उत्पन्न धुएं से ढके हुए नयनों वाली हो जाए. हमारे रण के बाजों के कारण उन के कान बहरे हो जाएं. इस प्रकार त्रिषंधि नामक देव के द्वारा शत्रु की सेना को जीत लिए जाने पर देव सेना के झंडे लाल रंग को हो जाएं. (७)
May the army of our enemies become covered with smoke emanating from Maya. Their ears become deaf because of the eagles of our battlefield. In this way, when the enemy's army is conquered by a god named Trishandhi, the flags of the dev army become red in color. (7)
अथर्ववेद (कांड 11)
अवा॑यन्तां प॒क्षिणो॒ ये वयां॑स्य॒न्तरि॑क्षे दि॒वि ये चर॑न्ति । श्वाप॑दो॒ मक्षि॑काः॒ सं र॑भन्तामा॒मादो॒ गृध्राः॒ कुण॑पे रदन्ताम् ॥ (८)
जो पक्षी मरी हुई शत्रु सेना का मांस खाने के लिए नीचे की ओर मुंह कर के आकाश में उड़ते हैं तथा द्युलोक अर्थात् स्वर्ग में जो पक्षी उड़ते हैं, वे तथा मांसभक्षी सिंह, गीदड़ आदि पशु और मांस भक्षिणी नीले रंग की मक्खियां शवों का मांस खाने के लिए शत्रु सेनाओं में विचरण करें. मांस भक्षक गिद्ध शत्रु सेना के शरीरों को अपनी चोंच से नोचें. (८)
The birds that fly in the sky facing down to eat the meat of the dead enemy army and the birds that fly in Dulok i.e. heaven, and animals and meat eaters like carnivorous lions, jackals etc. blue flies roam in the enemy armies to eat the flesh of the dead bodies. Meat-eating vultures should scratch the bodies of the enemy army with their beaks. (8)
