इंद्र और उषा - ये दोनों देव सभी दिशाओं के संचरण मार्गों को रोक दें. इस समय दूर दिखाई देने वाली शत्रु सेनाएं अत्यधिक मोह में पड़ जाएं और उन में कार्यअकार्य का निर्णय करने की क्षमता न रहे. (१)

हे शत्रुओ! कटे हुए शीश वाले सांप जिस प्रकार हिलतेडुलते हैं, कुछ कर नहीं पाते, उसी प्रकार तुम जय के उपाय से शून्य हो कर युद्धभूमि में घूमो. हमारी आहुतियों के कारण मोह को प्राप्त उन शत्रुओं का वध श्रेष्ठ नायक इंद्र करें. (२)

हे इच्छा पूर्ण करने वाले इंद्र! तुम सोम मणि को ढकने वाले कृष्ण मृग-चर्म को हमारे योद्धाओं में बांधो. हमारे शत्रु हमारे सामने से भाग जाएं तथा उन शत्रुओं का पशु धन हमें प्राप्त हो. (३)
