ऋग्वेद (मंडल 6)
यज॑स्व होतरिषि॒तो यजी॑या॒नग्ने॒ बाधो॑ म॒रुतां॒ न प्रयु॑क्ति । आ नो॑ मि॒त्रावरु॑णा॒ नास॑त्या॒ द्यावा॑ हो॒त्राय॑ पृथि॒वी व॑वृत्याः ॥ (१)
हे देवों को बुलाने वाले एवं उत्तम यज्ञकर्ता अग्नि! तुम हमारे द्वारा प्रार्थित होकर इस यज्ञ में शत्रुबाधक मरुतों के उद्देश्य से हवन करो तथा इस यज्ञ में मित्र, वरुण, अश्विनीकुमारों एवं धरती-आकाश को अपने साथ लाओ. (१)
O agni, the one who calls the gods and the best of the sacrificial ones! You pray through us and perform havan in this yajna for the purpose of the enemies of the evil maruts and bring friends, Varuna, Ashwinikumaras and earth-sky with you in this yajna. (1)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 6)
त्वं होता॑ म॒न्द्रत॑मो नो अ॒ध्रुग॒न्तर्दे॒वो वि॒दथा॒ मर्त्ये॑षु । पा॒व॒कया॑ जु॒ह्वा॒३॒॑ वह्नि॑रा॒साग्ने॒ यज॑स्व त॒न्वं१॒॑ तव॒ स्वाम् ॥ (२)
हे अग्नि देव! तुम मनष्यों में वर्तमान इस यज्ञ में देवों को बुलाने वाले अतिशय स्तुतिपात्र व हमसे द्रोह न रखने वाले हो. तुम शुद्धि करने वाली एवं देवमुखरूपिणी ज्वाला से अपने 'स्विष्टकृत' नामक शरीर का यजन करो. (२)
O God of agni! You are the most praiseworthy of those who call the gods in this yajna present in the minds and are not going to hate us. You should use your body called 'Vishishtakrita' with a purifying and deity-oriented flame. (2)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 6)
धन्या॑ चि॒द्धि त्वे धि॒षणा॒ वष्टि॒ प्र दे॒वाञ्जन्म॑ गृण॒ते यज॑ध्यै । वेपि॑ष्ठो॒ अङ्गि॑रसां॒ यद्ध॒ विप्रो॒ मधु॑ च्छ॒न्दो भन॑ति रे॒भ इ॒ष्टौ ॥ (३)
हे अग्नि! धन का कारण बनी हुई स्तुति तुम्हारी कामना करती है, क्योंकि तुम्हारे कारण यजमान देवों के निमित्त यज्ञ करने में समर्थ होता है. अंगिरा श्रेष्ठ स्तुतिकर्ता है एवं मेधावी भरद्वाज यज्ञ में छंद का उच्चारण करते हैं. (३)
O agni! The praise that is the cause of wealth desires you, because because of you the host is able to perform the yajna for the sake of the gods. Angira is the best praiseor and the meritorious bharadwaj recites the verses in the yajna. (3)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 6)
अदि॑द्युत॒त्स्वपा॑को वि॒भावाग्ने॒ यज॑स्व॒ रोद॑सी उरू॒ची । आ॒युं न यं नम॑सा रा॒तह॑व्या अ॒ञ्जन्ति॑ सुप्र॒यसं॒ पञ्च॒ जनाः॑ ॥ (४)
बुद्धिमान् एवं तेजस्वी अग्नि भली प्रकार प्रकाशित होते हैं. हे अग्नि! तुम विस्तृत धरती-आकाश की हव्य से पूजा करो. लोग जिस प्रकार अतिथि की पूजा करते हैं, उसी प्रकार यजमान हव्य द्वारा अग्नि को प्रसन्न करते हैं. (४)
Intelligent and bright agnis are well-lit. O agni! Worship the vast earth and the heavens with the heart. Just as people worship the guest, so the host pleases the agni by havan. (4)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 6)
वृ॒ञ्जे ह॒ यन्नम॑सा ब॒र्हिर॒ग्नावया॑मि॒ स्रुग्घृ॒तव॑ती सुवृ॒क्तिः । अम्य॑क्षि॒ सद्म॒ सद॑ने पृथि॒व्या अश्रा॑यि य॒ज्ञः सूर्ये॒ न चक्षुः॑ ॥ (५)
जब हव्यों के साथ कुश अग्नि के पास लाया जाता है एवं कुश पर घी से भरा निर्दोष खुच रखा जाता है, तब धरती पर अग्नि के निवासरूप वेदी को बनाया जाता है एवं यज्ञकार्य सूर्य के प्रकाश के समान विस्तृत होता है. (५)
When Kush with the havyas is brought to the agni and an innocent khuch filled with ghee is placed on the Kush, then the altar, the abode of agni on the earth, is made and the yajnakarta is as wide as the light of the sun. (5)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 6)
द॒श॒स्या नः॑ पुर्वणीक होतर्दे॒वेभि॑रग्ने अ॒ग्निभि॑रिधा॒नः । रा॒यः सू॑नो सहसो वावसा॒ना अति॑ स्रसेम वृ॒जनं॒ नांहः॑ ॥ (६)
हे अनेक ज्वालाओं वाले एवं देवों को बुलाने वाले अग्नि! तुम अन्य दीप्ति वाली अग्नियों के साथ प्रज्वलित होकर हमें धन दो. हे बलपुत्र अग्नि! तुम्हें हव्य से ढकने वाले हम पापरूपी शत्रु से दूर हों. (६)
O agni with many flames and calling upon the gods! You ignite with other radiant agnis and give us wealth. O son of strength, agni! Let us be away from the sinful enemy who covers you with a hug. (6)
