ऋग्वेद (मंडल 9)
तं त्वा॑ नृ॒म्णानि॒ बिभ्र॑तं स॒धस्थे॑षु म॒हो दि॒वः । चारुं॑ सुकृ॒त्यये॑महे ॥ (१)
हे महान् द्युलोक के समान स्थानों में स्थित, हमारे लिए धन एवं कल्याण धारण करने वाले एवं निचुड़ते हुए सोम! हम शोभन क्रिया द्वारा तुमसे धन मांगते हैं. (१)
O you who are located in places like the great dulok, the one who holds wealth and welfare for us and is helpless! We ask you for money through shobhan kriya. (1)

संवृ॑क्तधृष्णुमु॒क्थ्यं॑ म॒हाम॑हिव्रतं॒ मद॑म् । श॒तं पुरो॑ रुरु॒क्षणि॑म् ॥ (२)
हे शत्रुओं के नाशक, प्रशंसा के योग्य, पूजा के योग्य, बहुत से कर्म करने वाले, नशीले एवं शत्रुओं की नगरियों को नष्ट करने वाले सोम! हम तुमसे धन मांगते हैं. (२)
O you destroyers of enemies, worthy of praise, worthy of worship, many who do many deeds, the intoxicating and destroyers of the cities of the enemies! We ask you for money. (2)

अत॑स्त्वा र॒यिम॒भि राजा॑नं सुक्रतो दि॒वः । सु॒प॒र्णो अ॑व्य॒थिर्भ॑रत् ॥ (३)
हे शोभन-कर्म वाले तथा धन देने के लिए राजा सोम! बाज पक्षी तुम्हें स्वर्ग से लाया था. (३)
O King Soma, who has good deeds and to give money! The hawk bird brought you from heaven. (3)

विश्व॑स्मा॒ इत्स्व॑र्दृ॒शे साधा॑रणं रज॒स्तुर॑म् । गो॒पामृ॒तस्य॒ विर्भ॑रत् ॥ (४)
बाज पक्षी जल बरसाने वाले, यज्ञ के रक्षक एवं सबको देखने वाले देवों के रस सोम को समानरूप से लाया था. (४)
The hawk bird brought the rasa som of the gods who rained water, the protector of the yagna and the seer of all. (4)

अधा॑ हिन्वा॒न इ॑न्द्रि॒यं ज्यायो॑ महि॒त्वमा॑नशे । अ॒भि॒ष्टि॒कृद्विच॑र्षणिः ॥ (५)
यज्ञकर्मो को विशेषरूप से देखने वाले, यजमानों को मनचाहा फल देने वाले एवं अपनी शक्ति का प्रयोग करने वाले सोम प्रशंसा के योग्य महत्त्व प्राप्त करते हैं. (५)
Som, who especially sees the yagnakarmo, gives the desired fruits to the hosts and exercises his power, receives the importance of admiration. (5)
