सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
यज्ञायज्ञा वो अग्नये गिरागिरा च दक्षसे । प्रप्र वयममृतं जातवेदसं प्रियं मित्रं न शँसिषम् ॥ (१)
हे अग्नि! आप सब कुछ जानने वाले व अमर हैं. आप मित्र की तरह सहयोग करने वाले हैं. हम आप की स्तुति करते हैं. हे श्रोताओ! आप भी ऐसे अग्नि की स्तुति कीजिए. (१)
O agni! You are the knower of everything and are immortal. You are going to cooperate like a friend. We praise you. O listener! You also praise such agni. (1)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
पाहि नो अग्न एकया पाह्यू३त द्वितीयया । पाहि गीर्भिस्तिसृभिरूर्जां पते पाहि चतसृभिर्वसो ॥ (२)
हे अग्नि! आप पहली स्तुति से हमारी रक्षा कीजिए. दूसरी स्तुति से हमें संरक्षण प्रदान कीजिए. तीसरी स्तुति से हमारी रक्षा (पालनपोषण रूप) कीजिए. चौथी स्तुति से आप हमारी सब प्रकार से रक्षा कीजिए. हे अग्नि! आप सब को संरक्षण देने वाले हैं. (२)
O agni! You protect us from the first praise. Protect us with the second praise. Protect us from the third praise. Protect us in every way with the fourth praise. O agni! You are going to protect everyone. (2)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
बृहद्भिरग्ने अर्चिभिः शुक्रेण देव शोचिषा । भरद्वाजे समिधानो यविष्ठ्य रेवत्पावक दीदिहि ॥ (३)
हे अग्नि! आप बड़ी ज्वालाओं वाले व युवा हैं. आप संपन्नता व पवित्रता देने वाले हैं. आप अपने प्रखर तेज से भरद्वाज (ऋषि) के लिए अत्यंत तेजस्वी रूप में प्रज्वलित होइए. (३)
O agni! You are big flames and young. You are the giver of prosperity and purity. You ignite your intense radiance in a very bright form for Bharadvaj (sage). (3)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
त्वे अग्ने स्वाहुत प्रियासः सन्तु सूरयः । यन्तारो ये मघवानो जनानामूर्वं दयन्त गोनाम् ॥ (४)
हे अग्नि! यजमान भलीभांति हवन करते हैं. वे आप को प्रिय हों. जो धन देने वाले और प्रजा की देखभाल करने वाले हैं, वे भी आप को प्रिय हों. गौओं का पालन करने वाले आप को प्रिय हों. (४)
O agni! The host performs havan well. They are dear to you. Those who give money and take care of the people should also be dear to you. Those who follow cows should be dear to you. (4)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
अग्ने जरितर्विश्पतिस्तपानो देव रक्षसः । अप्रोषिवान्गृहपते महाँ असि दिवस्पायुर्दुरोणयुः ॥ (५)
हे अग्नि! आप ज्ञानी, प्रजा का पालनपोषण करने वाले, राक्षसं (कष्ट देने वालों) का नाश करने वाले, घर के स्वामी, उपासकों के घर को नहीं छोड़ने वाले व स्वर्गलोक के रक्षक हैं. आप हमारे घर में सदा निवास करिए. (५)
O agni! You are the wise, the nurturer of the subjects, the destroyer of the demons (those who suffer), the swami of the house, the one who does not leave the house of worshipers and the protector of heaven. You always live in our house. (5)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
अग्ने विवस्वदुषसश्चित्रँ राधो अमर्त्य । आ दाशुषे जातवेदो वहा त्वमद्या देवाँ उषर्बुधः ॥ (६)
हे अग्नि! आप अमर, प्राणिमात्र को जानने वाले और उषा (उषाकाल) से प्राप्त होने वाला विशेष धन दानदाता यजमान को दीजिए. आप सब कुछ जानने वाले हैं. आप उषाकाल में जागे हुए देवताओं को भी यहां आमंत्रित कीजिए. (६)
O agni! You give the special money received from Amar, Pranimatra and Usha (Ushakaal) to the donor host. You are going to know everything. You also invite the gods who have woken up in the dawn period here. (6)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
त्वं नश्चित्र ऊत्या वसो राधाँसि चोदय । अस्य रायस्त्वमग्ने रथीरसि विदा गाधं तुचे तु नः ॥ (७)
हे अग्नि! आप सर्वव्यापक, अद्भुत शक्ति वाले, दर्शनीय, अपार व बहुत क्षमतावान हैं. आप समृद्धि (वैभव) लाने में समर्थ हैं. आप हमें समृद्धि दीजिए. आप हमारी संतानों को भी समृद्धि एवं प्रतिष्ठा दीजिए. (७)
O agni! You are omnipresent, of amazing power, visible, immense and very capable. You are capable of bringing prosperity (glory). You give us prosperity. May you also give prosperity and prestige to our children. (7)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
त्वमित्सप्रथा अस्यग्ने त्रातरृतः कविः । त्वां विप्रासः समिधान दीदिव आ विवासन्ति वेधसः ॥ (८)
हे अग्नि! आप रक्षक हैं. आप (अपने गुण तथा धर्म के लिए) बहुत प्रसिद्ध हैं. आप सत्यवान और ज्ञानी हैं. हे तेजस्वी अग्नि! प्रज्वलित (प्रकाशित) हो जाने पर ज्ञानी जन आप की उपासना व सेवा करते हैं. (८)
O agni! You are the protector. You are very famous (for your qualities and dharma). You are truthful and knowledgeable. O glorious agni! When illuminated, the wise people worship and serve you. (8)
