सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
एना वो अग्निं नमसोर्जो नपातमा हुवे । प्रियं चेतिष्ठमरतिँ स्वाध्वरं विश्वस्य दूतममृतम् ॥ (१)
हे उपासको! अन्न से शक्ति देने वाले (बल के पुत्र), पूर्णज्ञानी, स्नेह देने वाले, सुंदर यज्ञ वाले देवताओं के दूत अग्नि को मैं नमस्कारपूर्वक प्रार्थना से आमंत्रित करता हूं. (१)
O worshiper! I greet Agni, the messenger of the gods who give strength from food (sons of force), full-knowledgeable, give affection, beautiful sacrifices, and invite them with prayer. (1)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
शेषे वनेषु मातृषु सं त्वा मर्तास इन्धते । अतन्द्रो हव्यं वहसि हविष्कृत आदिद्देवेषु राजसि ॥ (२)
हे अग्नि! आप वनों में व्याप्त हैं. आप माताओं में गर्भ के रूप में व्याप्त हैं. आप शेष पदार्थों में भी फैले हैं. हम मनुष्य समिधाओं द्वारा आप को प्रज्वलित करते हैं. आप आलस्य रहित हैं. आप यजमान की हवि देवताओं तक पहुंचाते हैं. आप देवताओं के मध्य (बीच में) सुशोभित होते हैं. (२)
O agni! You are pervading the forests. You are prevalent as a womb in mothers. You are also spread across the remaining substances. We human beings ignite you through samidhas. You are laziness-free. You convey the host's desire to the gods. You adorn (in the middle) of the gods. (2)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
अदर्शि गातुवित्तमो यस्मिन्व्रतान्यादधुः । उपो षु जातमार्यस्य वर्धनमग्निं नक्षन्तु नो गिरः ॥ (३)
धर्म के मार्ग को पूरी तरह जानने वाले अग्नि प्रकट हो रहे हैं. इन के माध्यम से यज्ञ के नियम पूरे किए जाते है. अग्नि आर्यो को प्रगति देने वाले हैं. वे वाणी रूप में की जा रही हमारी प्रार्थनाओं को स्वीकार करने की कृपा करें. (३)
Agnis that fully know the path of dharma are appearing. Through these, the rules of yajna are fulfilled. Agni is going to give progress to Arya. Please accept our prayers being made in the form of speech. (3)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
अग्निरुक्थे पुरोहितो ग्रावाणो बर्हिरध्वरे । ऋचा यामि मरुतो ब्रह्मणस्पते देवा अवो वरेण्यम् ॥ (४)
स्तोत्र वाले हिंसा रहित यज्ञ में सब से पहले अग्नि देवता की स्थापना की जाती है. सोमलता से रस निकालने वाले पत्थर एवं आसन भी स्थापित किए जाते हैं. हे मरुतो! हे ब्रह्मणस्पति! हे देव! हम वेदमंत्रों द्वारा अपनी रक्षा का अनुरोध करते हैं. (४)
In the violence-free yajna with stotra, the agni god is established first of all. Stones and asanas extracting juice from Somlata are also installed. O Maruto! O Brahmanaspati! O God! We request to protect ourselves through Vedamantras. (4)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
अग्निमीडिष्वावसे गाथाभिः शीरशोचिषम् । अग्निँ राये पुरुमीढ श्रुतं नरोऽग्निः सुदीतये छर्दिः ॥ (५)
हे उपासको! अपनी रक्षा के लिए विस्तृत तथा विकराल स्वरूप वाले अग्नि की स्तुति करो. धन प्राप्ति के लिए अग्नि की स्तुति करो. (५)
O worshiper! Praise the agni with a wide and formidable form to protect yourself. Praise agni to get wealth. (5)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
श्रुधि श्रुत्कर्ण वह्निभिर्देवैरग्ने सयावभिः । आ सीदतु बर्हिषि मित्रो अर्यमा प्रातर्यावभिरध्वरे ॥ (६)
हे अग्नि! आप समर्थ कानों वाले हैं. आप हमारी प्रार्थना स्वीकार कीजिए. अग्नि के साथ मित्र और अर्यमा आदि देवता भी यज्ञ के कुशासन पर विराजमान हों. (६)
O agni! You are capable of ears. You accept our prayer. Along with agni, friends and gods like Aryama should also sit on the misrule of the yajna. (6)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
प्र दैवोदासो अग्निर्देव इन्द्रो न मज्मना । अनु मातरं पृथिवीं वि वावृते तस्थौ नाकस्य शर्मणि ॥ (७)
अन्ने इंद्र के समान शक्तिशाली हैं. अग्नि दिव्य (अच्छे) कार्य करने वालों के लिए पृथ्वी पर प्रकट हुए. हवि पहुंचाने के अपने श्रेष्ठ कामों से वे स्वर्ग में रहने लगे. (७)
Anne is as powerful as Indra. Agni appeared on earth to those who did divine (good) work. With their noble deeds of delivering havi, they started living in heaven. (7)
सामवेद (अध्याय 1)
अध ज्मो अध वा दिवो बृहतो रोचनादधि । अया वर्धस्व तन्वा गिरा ममा जाता सुक्रतो पृण ॥ (८)
हे अग्नि! आप उत्तम यज्ञ के आधार हैं. आप स्वर्गलोक एवं पृथ्वीलोक में अपनी आभा फैलाएं. आप हमारी तथा हमारे संबंधियों की मनोकामनाएं पूरी कीजिए. (८)
O agni! You are the basis of the best yajna. Spread your aura in heaven and earth. You fulfill the wishes of us and our relatives. (8)
