सामवेद (अध्याय 3)
सत्यमित्था वृषेदसि वृषजूतिर्नोऽविता । वृषा ह्युग्र शृण्विषे परावति वृषो अर्वावति श्रुतः ॥ (१)
हे इंद्र! निश्चय ही आप वीर व मनोकामना पूरी करने वाले हैं. सोम यज्ञ करने वाले यजमानों ने अपनी रक्षा के लिए आप को बुलाया है. आप हमारी रक्षा कीजिए. आप की प्रसिद्धि पास भी है और बहुत दूरदूर तक भी फैली हुई है. (१)
O Indra! Surely you are brave and fulfilling your wishes. The hosts performing som yajna have called you to protect themselves. You protect us. Your fame is also nearby and extends far and wide. (1)
सामवेद (अध्याय 3)
यच्छक्रासि परावति यदर्वावति वृत्रहन् । अतस्त्वा गीर्भिर्द्युगदिन्द्र केशिभिः सुतावाँ आ विवासति ॥ (२)
हे इंद्र! आप वृत्रासुर नाशक हैं. आप हमारे पास हों चाहे दूर, पर हम सोम यज्ञ करने वाले यजमान आप को आमंत्रित करते हैं. हम गरदन पर सुंदर बाल वाले घोड़ों के समान अपनी श्रेष्ठ स्तुतियों से आप को बुलाते हैं. (२)
O Indra! You are the destroyer of Vritrasura. Whether you are with us or far away, we invite you to the host who performs the Soma Yagya. We call upon you with our best praises like horses with beautiful hair on the neck. (2)
सामवेद (अध्याय 3)
अभि वो वीरमन्धसो मदेषु गाय गिरा महा विचेतसम् । इन्द्रं नाम श्रुत्यँ शाकिनं वचो यथा ॥ (३)
हे यजमानो! आप अपने हित के लिए इंद्र की स्तुति करो. वे राक्षसों को जीतने वाले हैं. वे सोमरस से खुश होने वाले हैं. वे यशस्वी, वीर व बुद्धिमान हैं. आप ऐसे इंद्र की जैसे भी हो विशेष स्तुति करो. (३)
O hosts! Praise Indra for your own interest. They are going to conquer monsters. They are going to be happy with Somers. They are successful, brave and intelligent. Whatever you are like this, praise Indra specially. (3)
सामवेद (अध्याय 3)
इन्द्र त्रिधातु शरणं त्रिवरूथँ स्वस्तये । छर्दिर्यच्छ मघवद्भ्यश्च मह्यं च यावया दिद्युमेभ्यः ॥ (४)
हे इंद्र! आप धनवान यजमानों को और मुझे तीनों ऋतुओं में सुखदायी कल्याणकारी तीन मंजिला घर दीजिए. इन्हें पाने के लिए हमें शस्त्रों का प्रयोग न करना पड़े. (४)
O Indra! You give rich hosts and me a happy welfare three-storey house in all three seasons. We do not have to use weapons to get them. (4)
सामवेद (अध्याय 3)
श्रायन्त इव सूर्यं विश्वेदिन्द्रस्य भक्षत । वसूनि जातो जनिमान्योजसा प्रति भागं न दीधिमः ॥ (५)
हे यजमानो! जैसे सारी किरणें सूर्य के सहारे रहती हैं, वैसे ही सारा संसार इंद्र के सहारे है. हम भी उन्हीं के सहारे हैं. जैसे पिता के धन में संतान की भागीदारी होती है, वैसे ही इंद्र के धन में हमारी भागीदारी हो. इंद्र उत्पन्न हुए और उत्पन्न होने वालों को बल से भाग प्रदान करते हैं. (५)
O hosts! Just as all the rays are with the support of the sun, so the whole world is with the support of Indra. We are also supported by them. Just as the child has a share in the father's wealth, so should our participation in Indra's wealth. Indra gives part by force to those born and born. (5)
सामवेद (अध्याय 3)
न सीमदेव आप तदिषं दीर्घायो मर्त्यः । एतग्वा चिद्या एतशो युयोजत इन्द्रो हरी युयोजते ॥ (६)
हे इंद्र! आप चिरायु हैं. आप के प्रति श्रद्धा के बिना मनुष्य उस श्रेष्ठ अन्न को नहीं पा सकता है. जो इंद्र को पाने के लिए अपनी स्तुतियों के घोड़े नहीं जोड़ता है, इंद्र भी उस के यज्ञ में जाने के लिए हरि तथा अन्य घोड़ों को नहीं जोड़े हैं. (६)
O Indra! You are viva. Without reverence for you, man cannot get that superior food. Whoever does not add horses of his praise to get Indra, Indra has also not added Hari and other horses to go to his yagna. (6)
सामवेद (अध्याय 3)
आ नो विश्वासु हव्यमिन्द्रँ समत्सु भूषत । उप ब्रह्माणि सवनानि वृत्रहन्परमज्या ऋचीषम ॥ (७)
हे इंद्र! युद्धों में सहायता के लिए आप को बुलाया जाता है. आप हमारी प्रशंसा, प्रार्थनाओं से सुशोभित होते हैं. आप वृत्रासुर नाशक हैं. आप के धनुष की प्रत्यंचा अविनाशी है. आप तीनों समय की संध्याओं की प्रार्थनाओं को शोभित कीजिए. (७)
O Indra! You are called to assist in wars. You are adorned with our praise, prayers. You are the destroyer of Vritrasura. The image of your bow is indestructible. Grace the prayers of the evenings of all three of you times. (7)
सामवेद (अध्याय 3)
तवेदिन्द्रावमं वसु त्वं पुष्यसि मध्यमम् । सत्रा विश्वस्य परमस्य राजसि न किष्ट्वा गोषु वृण्वते ॥ (८)
हे इंद्र! आप निम्न, मध्यम और उत्तम सभी तरह के धनों के अकेले स्वामी हैं. आप जब गाय आदि अपने यजमानों को दान करना चाहते हैं तो आप को कोई भी नहीं रोक सकता है. (८)
O Indra! You are the sole master of all kinds of wealth, low, medium and good. When you want to donate cows etc. to your hosts, no one can stop you. (8)
