विनाश रहित, क्षोभ न देने वाले, सभी प्रजाओं के पालनकर्ता, वृत्र नामक राक्षस अथवा जल के आधार मेघ को नष्ट करने वाले, शत्रुओं की विशेष रूप से हिंसा करने वाले, सभी प्राणियों को वश में रखने वाले, मनोकामनाओं की वर्षा करने वाले एवं सोमरस को पीने वाले इंद्र देव हमारे लिए अभय करने वाले बन कर संग्राम में हमारे नेता बनें. (१)

हे परम ऐश्वर्य युक्त इंद्र देव! हमारी विजय के लिए हम से संग्राम करने वाले शत्रुओं का विनाश करो. जो युद्ध का प्रयत्न करने वाले शत्रु हैं, उन को पराजित करो. हमारे खेत, धन आदि छीन कर हमें हानि पहुंचाने वाले शत्रु को अवनति रूपी अंधकार में पहुंचाओ. (२)
O Indra Dev with supreme opulence! Destroy the enemies who fought us for our victory. Defeat those who are enemies who try to fight. Take away our fields, money, etc. and bring the enemy who harms us into the darkness of degradation. (2)
हे वृत्र राक्षस को मारने वाले इंद्र! तुम राक्षसों का विनाश करो एवं संग्रामों में विजय प्राप्त करो. तुम वृत्र के समान शक्तिशाली हमारे शत्रु के कपोलों को विदीर्ण करो. (३)
O Indra who killed the vritra demon! You destroy the demons and conquer the battles. You destroy the cupolas of our enemy as powerful as the tree. (3)
हे परम ऐश्वर्य वाले इंद्र देव! हम से द्वेष करने वाले शत्रु के हिंसक मन को नष्ट कीजिए. जो शत्रु हमें समाप्त करने का इच्छुक है, उस के आयुध का विनाश करो. हमें महान सुख प्रदान करो एवं मंत्र प्रयोग के कारण असफल न होने वाले शस्त्रों को हम से दूर रखो. (४)
O Indra Dev of supreme opulence! Destroy the violent mind of the enemy who hates us. Destroy the armament of the enemy who is willing to destroy us. Give us great happiness and keep the weapons that do not fail due to the use of mantras away from us. (4)
