हे परम ऐश्वर्य वाले इंद्र! तुम हम पर प्रसन्न हो जाओ एवं हमें मनचाहा फल प्रदान करो. हे शूर इंद्र! अपने घोड़ों की सहायता से तुम मेरे यज्ञ में आओ तथा इस यज्ञ में निचोड़े गए सोमरस को पियो. यह सोमरस प्रशंसनीय एवं मधुर है. पीने पर यह सोमरस तृप्ति और उत्तम मादकता का कारण बनता है. (१)
O Indra of supreme opulence! May you be pleased with us and give us the desired fruit. O Shur Indra! With the help of your horses, you come to my yajna and drink somers squeezed in this yajna. This someras is praiseworthy and sweet. When drinking, it causes somerous satiety and excellent intoxication. (1)
इन्द्र॑ ज॒ठरं॑ न॒व्यो न पृ॒णस्व॒ मधो॑र्दि॒वो न । अ॒स्य सु॒तस्य॒ स्व॑१र्णोप॑ त्वा॒ मदाः॑ सु॒वाचो॑ अगुः ॥ (२)
हे इंद्र! तुम नवीन के समान सोमरस से अपना पेट उसी प्रकार भर लो जिस प्रकार स्वर्ग के अमृत से पूर्ण करते हो. इस निचोड़े गए सोमरस के मद से संबंधित उत्तम स्तुति तथा स्वर्ग के समान आनंद तुम्हें यहां भी प्राप्त हो. (२)
O Indra! Fill your stomach with somerasa like the new one, just as you complete it with the nectar of heaven. May you get the best praise related to the item of this squeezed someras and the joy of heaven here too. (2)
शत्रु विनाशक एवं समस्त प्राणियों के मित्र इंद्र ने वृत्र राक्षस को आसुरी प्रजाओं के समान मार डाला. जिस प्रकार यज्ञ करते हुए अंगिरा गोत्रीय भृगुओं के यज्ञ का आधार गौ का हरण करने वाले बल नामक असुर को मार डाला था, उसी प्रकार इंद्र ने वृत्र का हनन किया. इंद्र ने सोमरस के मद में शज्रुओं को पराजित किया. (३)
Indra, the enemy destroyer and friend of all beings, killed the vritra demon like devilish subjects. Just as the basis of the yajna of the Angira gotriya bhrigus had killed an asura named Bal, who abducted the cow, in the same way Indra violated the vritra. Indra defeated the Shajrus under the head of Someras. (3)
हे इंद्र! निचोड़ा गया सोमरस तुम्हारे उदर में प्रवेश करे. तुम इस से अपनी दोनों कोखों को भर लो. तुम हमारा आह्वान सुन कर यहां आओ तथा हमारी स्तुतियां सुनो एवं उन्हें स्वीकार करो. हे इंद्र! तुम इस यज्ञ में अपने मित्र मरुत् आदि देवों के साथ सोमरस पी कर तृप्त बनो तथा हमारे यज्ञकर्म को संपन्न बनाओ. (४)
O Indra! Let the squeezed somerus enter your abdomen. You fill both your wombs with this. Listen to our call and come here and listen to our praises and accept them. O Indra! In this yajna, drink someras with your friend Marut etc. gods and become satisfied and make our yajna karma complete. (4)
मैं वज्रधारी इंद्र के उन वीरता पूर्ण कार्यों का वर्णन करता हूं जो उन्होंने पूर्व काल में किए हैं. उन्होंने वृत्रासुर का हनन किया तथा उस के बाद उस के द्वारा रोके गए जल को निकाल दिया एवं पर्वतों से निकलने वाली नदियों को बहाया. (५)
I describe the heroic deeds of Vajradhari Indra that he has done in the past. He violated Vritrasura and after that he removed the water stopped by him and drained the rivers coming out of the mountains. (5)
पर्वत पर सोते हुए इस वृत्रासुर का इंद्र ने वध किया. वत्र के पिता त्वष्टा ने इंद्र के लिए सुगमता से चलाया जाने वाला तथा तेज धारों वाला वज्र बनाया. इस के बाद जल सागर की ओर इस प्रकार बहने लगा, जिस प्रकार रंभाती हुई गाएं दौड़ती हैं. (६)
Indra killed this Vritrasura while sleeping on the mountain. Vatra's father Tvashta made an easy-to-operate and sharp-edged vajra for Indra. After this, the water started flowing towards the ocean in such a way that the rambed cows run. (6)
बैल के समान आचरण करते हुए इंद्र ने प्रजापति के पास से सोम रूपी अन्न प्राप्त किया. उस ने तीन सोम यागों में निचोड़े गए सोमरस का पान किया. इस के पश्चात इंद्र ने अपना शत्रुघातक वज्र हाथ में लिया एवं असुरों में सर्वप्रथम उत्पन्न हुए वृत्र की हत्या की. (७)
Behaving like a bull, Indra received soma-like food from Prajapati. He drank somers squeezed into three som yagas. After this, Indra took his enemy vajra in his hand and killed the first born vritra among the asuras.
