ऋग्वेद: | सूक्त: 162
यन्नीक्ष॑णं मा॒ँस्पच॑न्या उ॒खाया॒ या पात्रा॑णि यू॒ष्ण आ॒सेच॑नानि । ऊ॒ष्म॒ण्या॑पि॒धाना॑ चरू॒णाम॒ङ्काः सू॒नाः परि॑ भूष॒न्त्यश्व॑म् ॥ (१३)
मांस पकाने वाले पात्र से रस लेकर जिस पात्र द्वारा परीक्षा की जाती है, जो पात्र उबले हुए मांस का रस सुरक्षित रखते हैं, जो पात्र भाप रोकने एवं मांस से भरे पात्र को ढकने के काम में लाए जाते हैं, वे वेतस की शाखाएं, जिनसे अश्व के हृदय आदि भागों पर निशान लगाते हैं, एक छुरी जिससे चिहूनों के अनुसार मांस काटा जाता है, ये सब अश्व को सुशोभित करते हैं.
