अयु॑युत्सन्ननव॒द्यस्य॒ सेना॒मया॑तयन्त क्षि॒तयो॒ नव॑ग्वाः । वृ॒षा॒युधो॒ न वध्र॑यो॒ निर॑ष्टाः प्र॒वद्भि॒रिन्द्रा॑च्चि॒तय॑न्त आयन् ॥ (६)
वृत्र के अनुचरों ने दोषरहित इंद्र की सेना के साथ युद्ध करना चाहा था. उत्तम चरित्र वाले मनुष्यों ने इंद्र को युद्ध के लिए प्रेरित किया. जिस प्रकार शूर के साथ युद्ध छेड़ने वाले नपुंसक भाग जाते हैं, उसी प्रकार वे इंद्र के द्वारा अपमानित होकर अपनी निर्बलता का विचार करते हुए सरल मार्गों से दूर भाग गए. Vrithra's followers wanted to wage war with the army of the flawless Indra. Men of superior character inspired Indra to war. Just as the impotent who run away from waging war with the brave, so, Vrithra's followers thinking of their own weakness and humiliated by Indra, simply fled and ran away. (6)
