ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
भज॑न्त॒ विश्वे॑ देव॒त्वं नाम॑ ऋ॒तं सप॑न्तो अ॒मृत॒मेवैः॑ ॥ (४)
हे तेजस्वी अग्नि! तुम प्रज्वलित होते हुए अरणिरूप सूखे काष्ठ से जब जब उत्पन्न होते हो, तभी यजमान यज्ञकर्म आरंभ करते हैं. वे यजमान स्तोत्रों द्वारा तुझ मरणरहित अग्नि की सेवा करके देवत्व प्राप्त करते हैं. (४)
O splendid agni! When you are born from dry wood in the form of Arani being ignited, then only can the host starts the yajna. They attain divinity by serving you, the deathless agni, through the hymns. (4)
