ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
इन्द्र॒मिद्गा॒थिनो॑ बृ॒हदिन्द्र॑म॒र्केभि॑र॒र्किणः॑ । इन्द्रं॒ वाणी॑रनूषत ॥ (१)
सामवेद का गान करने वालों ने सामगान के द्वारा, ऋग्वेद का पाठ करने वालों ने त्रचाओं द्वारा और यजुर्वेद का पाठ करने वालों ने मंत्रों द्वारा इंद्र की स्तुति की है. (१)
Those who sing the Samaveda have praised Indra through the samagana, those who recite the Rigveda have praised Indra through the trichas and those who recite the Yajurveda have praised Indra through mantras. (1)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
इन्द्र॒ इद्धर्योः॒ सचा॒ सम्मि॑श्ल॒ आ व॑चो॒युजा॑ । इन्द्रो॑ व॒ज्री हि॑र॒ण्ययः॑ ॥ (२)
वज्र धारण करने वाले एवं सर्वाभरणभूषित इंद्र अपने आज्ञाकारी दोनों घोड़ों को अत्यंत शीघ्र रथ में जोतकर सबके साथ मिल जाते हैं. (२)
Indra, who wears a thunderbolt and is all-encompassing, plows both his obedient horses into the chariot very quickly and gets along with everyone. (2)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
इन्द्रो॑ दी॒र्घाय॒ चक्ष॑स॒ आ सूर्यं॑ रोहयद्दि॒वि । वि गोभि॒रद्रि॑मैरयत् ॥ (३)
इंद्र ने मनुष्यों को निरंतर देखने के लिए सूर्य को आकाश में स्थापित किया है. सूर्य अपनी किरणों द्वारा पर्वत आदि समस्त संसार को प्रकाशित कर रहे हैं. (३)
Indra has set the sun in the sky for human beings to see continuously. The sun is illuminating the whole world like mountains etc. by its rays. (3)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
इन्द्र॒ वाजे॑षु नोऽव स॒हस्र॑प्रधनेषु च । उ॒ग्र उ॒ग्राभि॑रू॒तिभिः॑ ॥ (४)
हे शत्रुओं द्वारा न हारने वाले इंद्र! अपनी अमोघ रक्षण शक्ति के द्वारा ऐसे महायुद्धों में हमारी रक्षा करो जो हजारों गजों, अश्वों आदि का लाभ देने वाले हों. (४)
O Indra, who is not defeated by the enemies! Protect us in such great wars with your indomitable protective power which will give the benefit of thousands of elephants, horses, etc. (4)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
इन्द्रं॑ व॒यं म॑हाध॒न इन्द्र॒मर्भे॑ हवामहे । युजं॑ वृ॒त्रेषु॑ व॒ज्रिण॑म् ॥ (५)
इंद्र हमारी सहायता करने वाले तथा धन-लाभ का विरोध करने वाले हमारे शत्रुओं के लिए वज्रधारी हैं. हम स्वल्प अथवा विपुल धन पाने के लिए हम इंद्र का आह्वान करते हैं. (५)
Indra is a thunderbolt to our enemies who oppose the gain of wealth by us. We call upon Indra to get a little or abundant wealth. (5)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
स नो॑ वृषन्न॒मुं च॒रुं सत्रा॑दाव॒न्नपा॑ वृधि । अ॒स्मभ्य॒मप्र॑तिष्कुतः ॥ (६)
हे इंद्र! तुम हमारे लिए इच्छित फल देने वाले तथा वृष्टि प्रदान करने वाले हो. तुम हमारे लाभ के लिए उस मेघ का मर्दन करो. तुमने कभी भी हमारी प्रार्थना अस्वीकार नहीं की है. (६)
O Indra! You are the giver of the desired result and rain . You mulling that cloud for our benefit. You have never rejected our prayers. (6)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
तु॒ञ्जेतु॑ञ्जे॒ य उत्त॑रे॒ स्तोमा॒ इन्द्र॑स्य व॒ज्रिणः॑ । न वि॑न्धे अस्य सुष्टु॒तिम् ॥ (७)
भिन्न-भिन्न फल देने वाले देवताओं के लिए जिन उत्तम स्तुतियों का प्रयोग किया जाता है, वे सब वञ्र धारण करने वाले इंद्र के लिए हैं. इंद्र के अनुरूप स्तुति को मैं नहीं जानता. (७)
The best praises that are used for the gods who give different fruits (results) are all for Indra, who holds the Vajra. I don't know the praise corresponding to Indra. (7)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
वृषा॑ यू॒थेव॒ वंस॑गः कृ॒ष्टीरि॑य॒र्त्योज॑सा । ईशा॑नो॒ अप्र॑तिष्कुतः ॥ (८)
जिस प्रकार तेज चाल वाला बैल धेनु समूह को अपने बल से अनुगृहीत करता है, उसी प्रकार इच्छाओं को पूरा करने वाले इंद्र मनुष्यों को शक्तिशाली बनाते हैं. इंद्र समर्थ हैं एवं किसी की प्रार्थना को ठुकराते नहीं हैं. (८)
Just as the fast-moving bull favors the group of cows by adapting the group with its own force, same way the indra who fulfills the desires makes the human beings powerful. Indra is capable and does not reject anyone's prayer. (8)
