ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
एन्द्र॑ सान॒सिं र॒यिं स॒जित्वा॑नं सदा॒सह॑म् । वर्षि॑ष्ठमू॒तये॑ भर ॥ (१)
हे इंद्र! हमारी रक्षा के लिए ऐसा धन दो जो हमारे भोग के योग्य, शत्रुओं को विजय करने में सहायक तथा शत्रुओं की हार का कारण बने. (१)
O Indra! Give us wealth to protect us and that is worthy of our enjoyment, helps in the conquest of our enemies, and causes the defeat of our enemies. (1)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
नि येन॑ मुष्टिह॒त्यया॒ नि वृ॒त्रा रु॒णधा॑महै । त्वोता॑सो॒ न्यर्व॑ता ॥ (२)
उस धन से एकत्र किए गए योद्धाओं के मुक्के की चोट से हम शत्रु को रोक देंगे. तुम्हारे द्वारा सुरक्षित होकर हम घोड़ों की सहायता से शत्रुओं को दूर भगाएंगे. (२)
We will stop the enemy from being punched by the warriors collected from that wealth. We will drive away the enemies with the help of horses, being protected by you. (2)

इन्द्र॒ त्वोता॑स॒ आ व॒यं वज्रं॑ घ॒ना द॑दीमहि । जये॑म॒ सं यु॒धि स्पृधः॑ ॥ (३)
हे इंद्र! तुम्हारे द्वारा सुरक्षित होकर हम अत्यंत दृढ़ वज्र को धारण करके अपने से द्वेष करने वाले शत्रुओं को पराजित करेंगे. (३)
O Indra! Secured by you, we will defeat our enemies who hate us by wearing the most firm thunderbolt. (3)

व॒यं शूरे॑भि॒रस्तृ॑भि॒रिन्द्र॒ त्वया॑ यु॒जा व॒यम् । सा॒स॒ह्याम॑ पृतन्य॒तः ॥ (४)
हे इंद्र! हम तुम्हारी सहायता पाकर अपने शस्त्रधारी सैनिकों को लेकर शत्रु सेना को जीत सकेंगे. (४)
O Indra! With your help, we will be able to take our armed soldiers and conquer the enemy army. (4)

म॒हाँ इन्द्रः॑ प॒रश्च॒ नु म॑हि॒त्वम॑स्तु व॒ज्रिणे॑ । द्यौर्न प्र॑थि॒ना शवः॑ ॥ (५)
इंद्र देव शरीर से बलिष्ठ एवं गुणों से युक्त होने के कारण महान् हैं. वज्रधारी इंद्र को पूर्वोक्त महत्त्व प्राप्त हो. इंद्र की सेना आकाश के समान विस्तृत हो. (५)
Indra Dev is great because of strong and quality body. The thunderbolt Indra should have the aforementioned importance. Indra's army should be as vast as the sky. (5)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
स॒मो॒हे वा॒ य आश॑त॒ नर॑स्तो॒कस्य॒ सनि॑तौ । विप्रा॑सो वा धिया॒यवः॑ ॥ (६)
जो वीर पुरुष युद्धक्षेत्र में जाने वाले हैं, पुत्र पाने की इच्छा रखते हैं अथवा जो बुद्धिमान् ज्ञान की अभिलाषा रखते हैं, वे सब इंद्र की कृपा से सिद्धि प्राप्त करें. (६)
All the brave men who are about to go to the battlefield, desire to have a son, or those who desire wise knowledge, all of them attain perfection by the grace of Indra. (6)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
यः कु॒क्षिः सो॑म॒पात॑मः समु॒द्र इ॑व॒ पिन्व॑ते । उ॒र्वीरापो॒ न का॒कुदः॑ ॥ (७)
इंद्र का जो उदर सोमरस पीने के लिए सदा तत्पर रहता है, वह समुद्र के समान विस्तृत है. जिस प्रकार जीभ का पानी कभी नहीं सूखता, उसी प्रकार इंद्र के उदर में स्थित सोमरस भी कभी नहीं सूखता. (७)
Indra's abdomen, which is always ready to drink somras, is as wide as the sea. Just as the water of the tongue never dries up, so does the somras in indra's abdomen never dry up. (7)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
ए॒वा ह्य॑स्य सू॒नृता॑ विर॒प्शी गोम॑ती म॒ही । प॒क्वा शाखा॒ न दा॒शुषे॑ ॥ (८)
इंद्र के मुख से निकली हुई वाणी सत्य, विविध विशेषताओं से युक्त, महती एवं गौएं देने वाली है. यज्ञ में हव्य देने वाले यजमान के लिए तो इंद्र की वाणी पके हुए फलों से लदी डाली के समान है. (८)
The speech that comes out of Indra's mouth is truth, with various characteristics, giving glory and cows. For the host who gives the havee in the yajna, the voice of Indra is like a branch laden with ripe fruits. (8)
