इन्द्रो॒ मदा॑य वावृधे॒ शव॑से वृत्र॒हा नृभिः॑ । तमिन्म॒हत्स्वा॒जिषू॒तेमर्भे॑ हवामहे॒ स वाजे॑षु॒ प्र नो॑ऽविषत् ॥ (१)
वृत्रह॑ता इंद्र ऋत्विजों की स्तुति द्वारा बल और हर्ष पाने के लिए बढ़ें. हम उन्हें बड़े और छोटे युद्धों में बुलाते हैं. वे युद्ध में हमारी रक्षा करें. (१)
Grow to gain strength and joy by praising the Vrithrahita Indra Ritwijs. We call them into wars big and small. They protect us in war. (1)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
असि॒ हि वी॑र॒ सेन्योऽसि॒ भूरि॑ पराद॒दिः । असि॑ द॒भ्रस्य॑ चिद्वृ॒धो यज॑मानाय शिक्षसि सुन्व॒ते भूरि॑ ते॒ वसु॑ ॥ (२)
हे वीर इंद्र! तुम अकेले होने पर भी सेना के समान हो. तुम शत्रुओं के विपुल धन को छीन लेते हो एवं अपने अल्प स्तुतिकर्ता को भी बढ़ाते हो. तुम यज्ञ करने वाले सोमरसदाता को अपेक्षित धन देते हो, क्योंकि तुम्हारे पास बहुत धन है. (२)
O brave Indra! You're the same as the army even when you're alone. You take away the riches of the enemies and increase your little praiseor. You give the required money to the somarsadata who performs the yajna, because you have a lot of money. (2)

यदु॒दीर॑त आ॒जयो॑ धृ॒ष्णवे॑ धीयते॒ धना॑ । यु॒क्ष्वा म॑द॒च्युता॒ हरी॒ कं हनः॒ कं वसौ॑ दधो॒ऽस्माँ इ॑न्द्र॒ वसौ॑ दधः ॥ (३)
युद्ध आरंभ होने पर विजेता अपने हारे हुए शत्रुओं का धन प्राप्त करता है. हे इंद्र! अपने रथ में शत्रुओं का गर्व मिटाने वाले घोड़े जोड़ो. तुम अपनी सेवा से विमुख राजा को मारते तथा सेवापरायण को दान देते हो, इसलिए हमें धन दो. (३)
When the war begins, the victor receives the wealth of his losing enemies. O Indra! Add horses that erase the pride of enemies to your chariot. You kill the king who is alienated from your service and donate to the service- payer, so give us money. (3)

क्रत्वा॑ म॒हाँ अ॑नुष्व॒धं भी॒म आ वा॑वृधे॒ शवः॑ । श्रि॒य ऋ॒ष्व उ॑पा॒कयो॒र्नि शि॒प्री हरि॑वान्दधे॒ हस्त॑यो॒र्वज्र॑माय॒सम् ॥ (४)
यज्ञकर्म द्वारा महान् एवं शत्रुओं को भयंकर, सोमरूपी अन्न का भक्षण करके अपना बल बढ़ाने वाले, दर्शनीय नासिका तथा हरि नाम के अश्रों से युक्त इंद्र हमें संपत्ति देने के लिए अपने समीपवर्ती बाहुओं में लौहनिर्मित वज्र धारण करते हैं. (४)
Indra, who strengthens his strength by devouring the great and the enemies with the fierce, somrupi food, with the visible nostrils and the ashes of hari, wears an iron-made vajra in his adjacent arms to give us wealth. (4)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
आ प॑प्रौ॒ पार्थि॑वं॒ रजो॑ बद्ब॒धे रो॑च॒ना दि॒वि । न त्वावा॑ँ इन्द्र॒ कश्च॒न न जा॒तो न ज॑निष्य॒तेऽति॒ विश्वं॑ ववक्षिथ ॥ (५)
इंद्र ने अपने तेज से धरती एवं आकाश को व्याप्त किया है तथा आकाश में चमकीले नक्षत्र स्थापित किए हैं. हे इंद्र! तुम्हारी समानता करने वाला न कोई उत्पन्न हुआ है और न भविष्य में होगा. तुम संपूर्ण जगत् को धारण करने के इच्छुक हो. (५)
Indra has pervaded the earth and sky with his brightness and has established bright constellations in the sky. O Indra! No one who equals you has been born and will not be in the future. You are willing to hold the whole world. (5)

यो अ॒र्यो म॑र्त॒भोज॑नं परा॒ददा॑ति दा॒शुषे॑ । इन्द्रो॑ अ॒स्मभ्यं॑ शिक्षतु॒ वि भ॑जा॒ भूरि॑ ते॒ वसु॑ भक्षी॒य तव॒ राध॑सः ॥ (६)
पालनकर्ता एवं यजमान को मानव भोगोचित अन्न देने वाले इंद्र हमें भी उसी प्रकार का अन्न दें. हे इंद्र! हमें देने के लिए धन का बंटवारा कर दो, क्योंकि तुम्हारे पास असंख्य धन है. हम तुम्हारे धन का एक अंश प्राप्त करें. (६)
Indra, who gives human-owned food to the nurturer and the host, should give us the same kind of food. O Indra! Divide the money to give us, for you have innumerable wealth. We get a fraction of your wealth. (6)

मदे॑मदे॒ हि नो॑ द॒दिर्यू॒था गवा॑मृजु॒क्रतुः॑ । सं गृ॑भाय पु॒रू श॒तोभ॑याह॒स्त्या वसु॑ शिशी॒हि रा॒य आ भ॑र ॥ (७)
हे सोमपान द्वारा हर्षित होकर हमें गोसमूह देने वाले इंद्र! हमें देने के लिए अपने दोनों हाथों में अपरिमित धन ग्रहण करो. हमें तीण बुद्धियुक्त करो और धन प्रदान करो. (७)
O Indra, who is glad to be glad of Sompan and gives us a group of gogroups! Give us to assume unlimited wealth in both your hands. Make us wise and give us wealth. (7)

मा॒दय॑स्व सु॒ते सचा॒ शव॑से शूर॒ राध॑से । वि॒द्मा हि त्वा॑ पुरू॒वसु॒मुप॒ कामा॑न्ससृ॒ज्महेऽथा॑ नोऽवि॒ता भ॑व ॥ (८)
हे शौर्यसंपन्न इंद्र! सोम के निचुड़ जाने पर आकर हमें धन एवं बल देने के निमित्त सोमरस पीकर तृप्त बनो. हम तुम्हें विपुल धनसंपन्न जानते हैं तथा अपनी अभिलाषा तुम्हें बताते हैं. तुम हमारे रक्षक बनो. (८)
O brave Indra! When Som goes to Nichud, come and drink somras to give us money and strength. We know you rich and tell you our desires. You be our protector. (8)
