ऋग्वेद (मंडल 10)
इ॒मा ब्रह्म॑ बृ॒हद्दि॑वो विव॒क्तीन्द्रा॑य शू॒षम॑ग्रि॒यः स्व॒र्षाः । म॒हो गो॒त्रस्य॑ क्षयति स्व॒राजो॒ दुर॑श्च॒ विश्वा॑ अवृणो॒दप॒ स्वाः ॥ (८)
बृहद्दिव नामक ऋषि सुखपूर्वक इंद्र के लिए इन मंत्रों को बोलते हैं. ऋषियों में प्रमुख एवं स्वर्ग प्राप्त कराने वाले इंद्र महान् एवं स्वयंप्रकाशित पर्वतों को अपने बल से हराते हैं तथा बल असुर द्वारा बंद सभी द्वार खोलते हैं. (८)
The sage named Brihaddiva happily speaks these mantras for Indra. Indra, who is the chief among the sages and attains heaven, defeats the great and self-lit mountains with his own strength and opens all the doors closed by the force asura. (8)
