यस्मि॑न्वृ॒क्षे सु॑पला॒शे दे॒वैः स॒म्पिब॑ते य॒मः । अत्रा॑ नो वि॒श्पतिः॑ पि॒ता पु॑रा॒णाँ अनु॑ वेनति ॥ (१)
नचिकेता ने कहा—“जिस सुंदर पत्तों वाले वृक्ष पर यम देवों के साथ भोग करते हैं, प्रजाओं के पति हमारे पिता की इच्छा है कि मैं उसी वृक्ष पर जाकर अपने पूर्वजों से मिलूं, (१)
