वात॑स्य॒ नु म॑हि॒मानं॒ रथ॑स्य रु॒जन्ने॑ति स्त॒नय॑न्नस्य॒ घोषः॑ । दि॒वि॒स्पृग्या॑त्यरु॒णानि॑ कृ॒ण्वन्नु॒तो ए॑ति पृथि॒व्या रे॒णुमस्य॑न् ॥ (१)
मैं रथ के समान वेग से दौड़ने वाले वायु की महिमा का वर्णन करता हूं. वायु का शब्द सभी स्थानों में गुंजित होता हुआ एवं वृक्षादि को कंपाता हुआ चलता है. वायु आकाशमार्ग का स्पर्श करके सभी स्थलों को लाल करते हुए एवं धरती की धूल उड़ाते हुए चलते हैं. (१)
I describe the glory of the wind running at the same speed as the chariot. The word of air resonates in all places and vibrates to the tree. The air touches the sky and moves reddening all the places and blowing the dust of the earth. (1)

सं प्रेर॑ते॒ अनु॒ वात॑स्य वि॒ष्ठा ऐनं॑ गच्छन्ति॒ सम॑नं॒ न योषाः॑ । ताभिः॑ स॒युक्स॒रथं॑ दे॒व ई॑यते॒ऽस्य विश्व॑स्य॒ भुव॑नस्य॒ राजा॑ ॥ (२)
वायु के चलने से पर्वत भी कांपते हैं. जिस प्रकार घोड़ी युद्ध की ओर जाती है, उसी प्रकार पर्वतादि वायु की ओर आते हैं. वायु घोड़ियों से युक्त रथ पर चढ़कर एवं इस सकल भुवन के स्वामी बनकर चलते हैं. (२)
Mountains also tremble as the wind moves. Just as the horse leads to war, so the mountains come towards the wind. The wind rides on a chariot with horses and becomes the lord of this sakal bhuvana. (2)

अ॒न्तरि॑क्षे प॒थिभि॒रीय॑मानो॒ न नि वि॑शते कत॒मच्च॒नाहः॑ । अ॒पां सखा॑ प्रथम॒जा ऋ॒तावा॒ क्व॑ स्विज्जा॒तः कुत॒ आ ब॑भूव ॥ (३)
वायु आकाशस्थित मार्गो से चलते हुए किसी भी दिन शांति से नहीं बैठते. जलों के मित्र, सबसे प्रथम उत्पन्न एवं शक्तियुक्त वायु कहां जन्मे हैं और कहां से आए हैं? (३)
The wind does not sit quietly on any day while walking through the paths of the sky. Where are the friends of the waters, the first generated and powerful air, born and from where did they come from? (3)

आ॒त्मा दे॒वानां॒ भुव॑नस्य॒ गर्भो॑ यथाव॒शं च॑रति दे॒व ए॒षः । घोषा॒ इद॑स्य शृण्विरे॒ न रू॒पं तस्मै॒ वाता॑य ह॒विषा॑ विधेम ॥ (४)
देवों की आत्मा एवं भुवन के गर्भरूप वायु इच्छा के अनुसार विचरण करते हैं. जिस वायु का शब्द ही सुना जाता है, रूप नहीं देखा जाता, उसकी पूजा मैं हव्य द्वारा करता हूं. (४)
The spirit of the gods and the garbharup of Bhuvana move according to the desire of the air. The air whose word is heard, not seen, I worship it through Havya. (4)
