ऋग्वेद (मंडल 10)
वि॒भ्राड्बृ॒हत्पि॑बतु सो॒म्यं मध्वायु॒र्दध॑द्य॒ज्ञप॑ता॒ववि॑ह्रुतम् । वात॑जूतो॒ यो अ॑भि॒रक्ष॑ति॒ त्मना॑ प्र॒जाः पु॑पोष पुरु॒धा वि रा॑जति ॥ (१)
विशेष दीप्ति वाले सूर्य यजमान को अकुटिल आयु देते हुए मधुर सोमरस अधिक मात्रा में पिएं. सूर्य वायु द्वारा प्रेरित होकर प्रजा की रक्षा करते है एवं उसका पोषण करते हुए विशेष रूप से सुशोभित होते हैं. (१)
Drink more mellow somras while giving a wonderful life to the sun host with special radiance. The sun is inspired by the wind to protect the people and is specially beautified by nurturing them. (1)

वि॒भ्राड्बृ॒हत्सुभृ॑तं वाज॒सात॑मं॒ धर्म॑न्दि॒वो ध॒रुणे॑ स॒त्यमर्पि॑तम् । अ॒मि॒त्र॒हा वृ॑त्र॒हा द॑स्यु॒हन्त॑मं॒ ज्योति॑र्जज्ञे असुर॒हा स॑पत्न॒हा ॥ (२)
दीप्तिशाली, विस्तृत, भली-भांति पुष्ट, अन्न का अतिशय दाता, वायु द्वारा धारित, सूर्यमंडल में स्थित, विनाशरहित, शत्रुघातक, वृत्रहननकर्ता, राक्षसों को मारने वालों में श्रेष्ठ, आयुध फेंकने वालों का घातक एवं सहज विरोधियों को समाप्त करने वाला सूर्यरूप तेज प्रकट होता है. (२)
The bright, the vast, the well-nourished, the most powerful of the food, possessed by the air, located in the solar system, the destroyer, the enemy-wielding, the best of those who kill demons, the deadly of the armament-throwers and the sun-form that eliminates the instinctive opponents appears bright. (2)

इ॒दं श्रेष्ठं॒ ज्योति॑षां॒ ज्योति॑रुत्त॒मं वि॑श्व॒जिद्ध॑न॒जिदु॑च्यते बृ॒हत् । वि॒श्व॒भ्राड्भ्रा॒जो महि॒ सूर्यो॑ दृ॒श उ॒रु प॑प्रथे॒ सह॒ ओजो॒ अच्यु॑तम् ॥ (३)
सूर्य ज्योतियों में उत्तम ज्योति, श्रेष्ठ, विश्व को जीतने वाले, धन विजय करने वाले एवं विशाल कहलाते हैं. विश्वप्रकाशक, दीप्तिशाली एवं महान् सूर्य देखने के लिए विस्तृत अंधकारनाशक एवं अविनाशी तेज का विस्तार करते हैं. (३)
Among the sun's lights, the best are called the lights, the best, the conquerors of the world, the conquerors of wealth and the giant. The world-lighters extend the vast, dark and indestructible brightness to see the glorious, radiant and great sun. (3)

वि॒भ्राज॒ञ्ज्योति॑षा॒ स्व१॒॑रग॑च्छो रोच॒नं दि॒वः । येने॒मा विश्वा॒ भुव॑ना॒न्याभृ॑ता वि॒श्वक॑र्मणा वि॒श्वदे॑व्यावता ॥ (४)
हे सूर्य! तुम अपने तेज से सारे जगत् को प्रकाशित करते हुए दिव्य स्थान में गए थे. सभी कार्यो के हेतु व सभी यज्ञों के अनुकूल सूर्य प्रकाश के द्वारा सारे लोक को भर जाते हैं. (४)
O sun! You went to the divine place, illuminating the whole world with your own glory. All the people are filled by sunlight for all the work and for all the yagnas. (4)
