ऋग्वेद (मंडल 10)
त्यमू॒ षु वा॒जिनं॑ दे॒वजू॑तं स॒हावा॑नं तरु॒तारं॒ रथा॑नाम् । अरि॑ष्टनेमिं पृत॒नाज॑मा॒शुं स्व॒स्तये॒ तार्क्ष्य॑मि॒हा हु॑वेम ॥ (१)
हम शक्तिशाली, देवों द्वारा सोम लाने के लिए प्रेरित बलयुक्त, संग्राम में शत्रुओं के रथों के विजेता, आक्रमणरहित रथ वाले एवं सेनाओं को युद्ध के लिए प्रेरित करने वाले गरुड़ को बुलाते हैं. (१)
We call upon the garudas, who are powerful, empowered by the gods to bring soma, the conquerors of the chariots of enemies in the battle, the chariots of the enemies in the battle, the one with the unfavourable chariots and the ones who inspired the armies to fight. (1)

इन्द्र॑स्येव रा॒तिमा॒जोहु॑वानाः स्व॒स्तये॒ नाव॑मि॒वा रु॑हेम । उर्वी॒ न पृथ्वी॒ बहु॑ले॒ गभी॑रे॒ मा वा॒मेतौ॒ मा परे॑तौ रिषाम ॥ (२)
इंद्र की दानशक्ति के समान गरुड़ की दानशक्ति को आह्वान करने वाले हम इस पर कल्याण के लिए नाव के समान चढ़ते हैं. हे विस्तृत, विशाल, व्यापक एवं गंभीर द्यावा-पृथिवी! हम आतेजाते समय में नष्ट न हों. (२)
Like Indra's charity, we, who invoke the charity power of Garuda, climb on it like a boat for welfare. O vast, vast, wide and solemn Diya-Earth! Let us not perish in the coming and going. (2)

स॒द्यश्चि॒द्यः शव॑सा॒ पञ्च॑ कृ॒ष्टीः सूर्य॑ इव॒ ज्योति॑षा॒पस्त॒तान॑ । स॒ह॒स्र॒साः श॑त॒सा अ॑स्य॒ रंहि॒र्न स्मा॑ वरन्ते युव॒तिं न शर्या॑म् ॥ (३)
जिस प्रकार सूर्य अपने तेज से जल का विस्तार करते हैं, उसी प्रकार गरुड़ ने अपने बल से पांच वर्णो का शीघ्र विस्तार किया. गरुड़ की गति हजारों एवं सैकड़ों प्रकार का धन देने वाली है. जिस प्रकार लक्ष्य की ओर जाने वाले बाण को कोई नहीं रोक पाता है, उसी प्रकार गरुड़ की गति में बाधा नहीं पड़ती. (३)
Just as the sun expands water with its brightness, garuda quickly expanded five varnas with his force. The speed of Garuda is going to give thousands and hundreds of kinds of wealth. Just as no one can stop the arrow going towards the target, so the speed of the garuda is not hindered. (3)
