ऋग्वेद (मंडल 10)
प्र स॑साहिषे पुरुहूत॒ शत्रू॒ञ्ज्येष्ठ॑स्ते॒ शुष्म॑ इ॒ह रा॒तिर॑स्तु । इन्द्रा भ॑र॒ दक्षि॑णेना॒ वसू॑नि॒ पतिः॒ सिन्धू॑नामसि रे॒वती॑नाम् ॥ (१)
हे बहुतों द्वारा बुलाए गए इंद्र! तुम शत्रुओं को हराते हो. तुम्हारा तेज श्रेष्ठ है. इस यज्ञ में तुम्हारा दान हमें मिले. तुम दाहिने हाथ से हमें धन दो. तुम जल वाली सरिताओं के पति हो. (१)
O Indra called by many! You defeat the enemies. Your fast is the best. May we receive your donation in this yajna. You give us money with the right hand. You are the husband of the watery saritas. (1)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 10)
मृ॒गो न भी॒मः कु॑च॒रो गि॑रि॒ष्ठाः प॑रा॒वत॒ आ ज॑गन्था॒ पर॑स्याः । सृ॒कं सं॒शाय॑ प॒विमि॑न्द्र ति॒ग्मं वि शत्रू॑न्ताळ्हि॒ वि मृधो॑ नुदस्व ॥ (२)
हे इंद्र! तुम भयानक पैरों एवं पर्वतवासी पशु के समान भयानक हो. तुम दूरवर्ती स्वर्गलोक से आए हो. तुम गतिशील एवं तीखे वञ्र पर सान चढ़ाकर शत्रुओं को मारो और विरोधियों को दूर भगाओ. (२)
O Indra! You are as terrible as a terrible foot and a mountainous animal. You have come from distant paradise. You kill the enemies by mounting on a dynamic and sharp van and drive away the opponents. (2)

इन्द्र॑ क्ष॒त्रम॒भि वा॒ममोजोऽजा॑यथा वृषभ चर्षणी॒नाम् । अपा॑नुदो॒ जन॑ममित्र॒यन्त॑मु॒रुं दे॒वेभ्यो॑ अकृणोरु लो॒कम् ॥ (३)
हे इंद्र! तुम कष्ट से रक्षा करने वाले एवं सुंदर तेज को लेकर उत्पन्न हुए हो. हे कामपूरक इंद्र! तुम हमारे प्रति शत्रुता रखने वाले लोगों का नाश करो एवं देवों के लिए संसार को विस्तृत बनाओ. (३)
O Indra! You are born of a protector from suffering and a beautiful fast. O kampoor Indra! You must destroy those who are hostile to us and make the world wide for the gods. (3)
