ऋग्वेद (मंडल 10)
हि॒मेव॑ प॒र्णा मु॑षि॒ता वना॑नि॒ बृह॒स्पति॑नाकृपयद्व॒लो गाः । अ॒ना॒नु॒कृ॒त्यम॑पु॒नश्च॑कार॒ यात्सूर्या॒मासा॑ मि॒थ उ॒च्चरा॑तः ॥ (१०)
पाला जिस प्रकार कमल के पत्तों को नष्ट कर देता है, उसी प्रकार बल राक्षस द्वारा चुराई गई गायों का बृहस्पति ने हरण किया. यह कार्य दूसरे के द्वारा होना संभव नहीं था और न कोई इसका अनुकरण कर सकता है. इस कार्य से सूर्य और चंद्रमा दिन तथा रात में उदित होने लगे. (१०)
Just as Pala destroys the lotus leaves, so the cows stolen by the force monster are taken away by Jupiter. It was not possible to be done by another, and no one can imitate it. With this work, the sun and moon began to rise in the day and night. (10)
