ऋग्वेद: | सूक्त: 1
स जा॑यत प्रथ॒मः प॒स्त्या॑सु म॒हो बु॒ध्ने रज॑सो अ॒स्य योनौ॑ । अ॒पाद॑शी॒र्षा गु॒हमा॑नो॒ अन्ता॒योयु॑वानो वृष॒भस्य॑ नी॒ळे ॥ (११)
शरेष्ठ अग्नि यजमानों के घरों एवं विशाल आकाश की मूलरूपी पृथ्वी में उत्पन्न होते हैं. बिना पैर और सिर वाले अग्नि अपने शरीर को छिपाकर बादल के घर अर्थात्‌ आकाश में धुएं का रूप धारण करते हैं. (११)
The sharastha agnis originate in the houses of hosts and in the original earth of the vast sky. Fires without legs and heads hide their bodies and take the form of smoke in the house of the cloud i.e. in the sky. (11)
