ऋग्वेद (मंडल 6)
वृषा॒ मद॒ इन्द्रे॒ श्लोक॑ उ॒क्था सचा॒ सोमे॑षु सुत॒पा ऋ॑जी॒षी । अ॒र्च॒त्र्यो॑ म॒घवा॒ नृभ्य॑ उ॒क्थैर्द्यु॒क्षो राजा॑ गि॒रामक्षि॑तोतिः ॥ (१)
सोमरस-युक्त यज्ञ में इंद्र की सोमपान से उत्पन्न प्रसन्नता यजमान की अभिलाषा पूरी करने वाली हो. वैदिक मंत्रों वाली स्तुति भी यजमान की इच्छा पूरी करे. सोम पीने वाले, सोमलता का रसहीन अंश स्वीकारने वाले एवं धनवान् इंद्र मानवों की स्तुतियों द्वारा पूजा करने योग्य हैं. स्वर्ग में रहने वाले एवं स्तुतियों के स्वामी इंद्र पूर्णतया रक्षा करते हैं. The happiness arising from Indra's sompan in the somras-containing yajna is going to fulfill the desire of the host. Praise with Vedic mantras should also fulfill the wish of the host. Those who drink som, accept the juiceless part of somalata and dhanvan indra are eligible to be worshipped by the praises of human beings. Indra, who lives in heaven and the lord of the praises, protects himself completely. (1)

ततु॑रिर्वी॒रो नर्यो॒ विचे॑ताः॒ श्रोता॒ हवं॑ गृण॒त उ॒र्व्यू॑तिः । वसुः॒ शंसो॑ न॒रां का॒रुधा॑या वा॒जी स्तु॒तो वि॒दथे॑ दाति॒ वाज॑म् ॥ (२)
शत्रुओं के हिंसक, वीर, मानवहितकारी, विशेष-ज्ञानी हमारी स्तुति सुनने वाले, स्तुतिकर्तताओं के विशेष रक्षक, निवासस्थान देने वाले, स्तोताओं के प्रशंसनीय, स्तुतियों को समझने वाले एवं अन्न के स्वामी इंद्र यज्ञ में बुलाए जाने पर अन्न देते हैं. (२)
The violent, the heroic, the human-benevolent, the special-wise, the hearers of our praises, the special protectors of the praises, the givers of the abodes, the praises of the hymns, the worthy of the hymns, and the lord of the food, give food when called to the Indra Yajna. (2)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 6)
अक्षो॒ न च॒क्र्योः॑ शूर बृ॒हन्प्र ते॑ म॒ह्ना रि॑रिचे॒ रोद॑स्योः । वृ॒क्षस्य॒ नु ते॑ पुरुहूत व॒या व्यू॒३॒॑तयो॑ रुरुहुरिन्द्र पू॒र्वीः ॥ (३)
हे शूर इंद्र! तुम्हारी महिमा तुम्हारे रथ के पहियों के अक्ष के समान धरती-आकाश से बढ़ जाती है. हे बहुतों द्वारा बुलाए हुए इंद्र! तुम्हारी बहुत सी रक्षाएं वृक्ष की शाखाओं के समान बढ़ती हैं. (३)
O Shur Indra! Your glory increases from the earth-sky like the axis of the wheels of your chariot. O Indra, called by many! Many of your defenses grow like tree branches. (3)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 6)
शची॑वतस्ते पुरुशाक॒ शाका॒ गवा॑मिव स्रु॒तयः॑ सं॒चर॑णीः । व॒त्सानां॒ न त॒न्तय॑स्त इन्द्र॒ दाम॑न्वन्तो अदा॒मानः॑ सुदामन् ॥ (४)
हे अनेक यज्ञकर्मकर्तता एवं बुद्धिमान् इंद्र! तुम्हारी शक्तियां गायों के समान मार्गों पर चलती हैं. हे शोभन-दान वाले इंद्र! तुम्हारी शक्तियां बछड़ों की रस्सियों के समान स्वयं बंधनहीन रहकर शत्रुओं को बांधती हैं. (४)
O many yajnakartas and wise Indra! Your powers run on the same paths as cows. O lord-in-law Indra! Your powers, like the ropes of calves, bind enemies without bondage themselves. (4)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 6)
अ॒न्यद॒द्य कर्व॑रम॒न्यदु॒ श्वोऽस॑च्च॒ सन्मुहु॑राच॒क्रिरिन्द्रः॑ । मि॒त्रो नो॒ अत्र॒ वरु॑णश्च पू॒षार्यो वश॑स्य पर्ये॒तास्ति॑ ॥ (५)
इंद्र आज जो काम करते हैं, कल उसकी अपेक्षा विलक्षण कार्य करते हैं, वे बार-बार सत् एवं असत् कार्य करते हैं. इस यज्ञ में इंद्र के अतिरिक्त मित्र, वरुण, पूषा एवं सविता हमारी अभिलाषा पूरी करें. (५)
Indra does a unique job than what he does today, tomorrow, he does the truth and infall again and again. In this yajna, apart from Indra's friends, Varuna, Pusha and Savita, fulfill our desire. (5)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 6)
वि त्वदापो॒ न पर्व॑तस्य पृ॒ष्ठादु॒क्थेभि॑रिन्द्रानयन्त य॒ज्ञैः । तं त्वा॒भिः सु॑ष्टु॒तिभि॑र्वा॒जय॑न्त आ॒जिं न ज॑ग्मुर्गिर्वाहो॒ अश्वाः॑ ॥ (६)
हे इंद्र! स्तोता हव्य और स्तुतियों द्वारा तुमसे इस प्रकार अपनी मनचाही वस्तुएं प्राप्त करते हैं, जिस प्रकार पर्वत के ऊपरी भाग से जल मिलता है. हे स्तुतियों द्वारा वंदना करने योग्य इंद्र! स्तुति करने वाले एवं अन्न के इच्छुक भरद्वाजगोत्रीय ऋषि स्तुतियां लेकर तुम्हारे समीप इस प्रकार जाते हैं, जिस प्रकार घोड़े जल्दी से युद्ध में उपस्थित होते हैं. (६)
O Indra! The stothas get from you the things they want through the greetings and hymns, just as they get water from the upper part of the mountain. O Indra worthy of worship by the praises! The bhardavajagotrian sages who praise and desire food go to you with praises in such a way that the horses are quickly present in the battle. (6)

न यं जर॑न्ति श॒रदो॒ न मासा॒ न द्याव॒ इन्द्र॑मवक॒र्शय॑न्ति । वृ॒द्धस्य॑ चिद्वर्धतामस्य त॒नूः स्तोमे॑भिरु॒क्थैश्च॑ श॒स्यमा॑ना ॥ (७)
वर्ष एवं मास इंद्र को बूढ़ा नहीं बनाते. दिन भी उन्हें दुर्बल नहीं करते. हमारी स्तुतियां सुनकर महान् इंद्र का शरीर बढ़े. (७)
The year and month do not make Indra old. Even the days don't make them weak. Hearing our praises, the body of the great Indra grew. (7)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 6)
न वी॒ळवे॒ नम॑ते॒ न स्थि॒राय॒ न शर्ध॑ते॒ दस्यु॑जूताय स्त॒वान् । अज्रा॒ इन्द्र॑स्य गि॒रय॑श्चिदृ॒ष्वा ग॑म्भी॒रे चि॑द्भवति गा॒धम॑स्मै ॥ (८)
हमारी स्तुतियां सुनकर इंद्र दृढ़शरीर एवं युद्ध में अविचल रहने वाले यजमान के वश में नहीं होते और न दस्युओं द्वारा उत्साहित तथा प्रेरित यजमान की ही बात मानते हैं. महान् पर्वत भी इंद्र के लिए सुगम हैं एवं अधिक गहरा स्थान भी इंद्र से बच नहीं सकता. (८)
Hearing our praises, Indra is not in the hands of a host who is firm and unwavering in war, nor does he obey the host, excited and inspired by the bandits. The great mountains are also easy for Indra and even a deeper place cannot escape Indra. (8)
