ऋग्वेद (मंडल 7)
उ॒षो न जा॒रः पृ॒थु पाजो॑ अश्रे॒द्दवि॑द्युत॒द्दीद्य॒च्छोशु॑चानः । वृषा॒ हरिः॒ शुचि॒रा भा॑ति भा॒सा धियो॑ हिन्वा॒न उ॑श॒तीर॑जीगः ॥ (१)
अग्नि उषा के प्रेमी सूर्य के समान विस्तृत तेज का आश्रय लेते हैं. अत्यंत दीप्तिशाली, अभिलाषापूरक, हव्य की प्रेरणा देने वाले एवं शुचि अग्नि यज्ञकर्मो को प्रेरित करते हुए अपनी दीप्ति से प्रकाशित करते हैं एवं अपने अभिलाषियों को जागृत करते हैं. (१)
The lovers of Agni Usha take shelter in the widest brightness as the Sun. The most radiant, the desireful, the inspiration of the heart and the pure agni illuminates with their radiance, inspiring the yagnakarmas and awakening their desires. (1)

स्व१॒॑र्ण वस्तो॑रु॒षसा॑मरोचि य॒ज्ञं त॑न्वा॒ना उ॒शिजो॒ न मन्म॑ । अ॒ग्निर्जन्मा॑नि दे॒व आ वि वि॒द्वान्द्र॒वद्दू॒तो दे॑व॒यावा॒ वनि॑ष्ठः ॥ (२)
अग्नि दिन में उषा के सामने सूर्य के समान दीप्त होते हैं. यज्ञ का विस्तार करने वाले ऋत्विज् सुंदर स्तोत्र पढ़ते हैं. विद्वान्, देवों के दूत, देवों के पास जाने वाले एवं अतिशयदाता अग्नि सबको द्रवित करते हैं. (२)
The agni is as bright as the sun in front of Usha during the day. The ritwijs who extend the yajna read beautiful hymns. The learned, the messengers of the gods, the ones who go to the gods and the super-giving agni, all are stirred up. (2)

अच्छा॒ गिरो॑ म॒तयो॑ देव॒यन्ती॑र॒ग्निं य॑न्ति॒ द्रवि॑णं॒ भिक्ष॑माणाः । सु॒सं॒दृशं॑ सु॒प्रती॑कं॒ स्वञ्चं॑ हव्य॒वाह॑मर॒तिं मानु॑षाणाम् ॥ (३)
देवों की अभिलाषा करती हुई व धन की याचना करती हुई स्तुतिरूप वाणियां देखने में शोभन, सुंदर रूप वाले, उत्तम गति वाले, हव्यवहनकर्तता एवं मानवों के स्वामी अग्नि के सामने जाती हैं. (३)
Praising the gods and pleading for money, the praise-like vanis go in front of the agni, the master of human beings, adorning them with beautiful appearances, having good speed, in good speed, in the face of the evil spirit and the lord of human beings. (3)

इन्द्रं॑ नो अग्ने॒ वसु॑भिः स॒जोषा॑ रु॒द्रं रु॒द्रेभि॒रा व॑हा बृ॒हन्त॑म् । आ॒दि॒त्येभि॒रदि॑तिं वि॒श्वज॑न्यां॒ बृह॒स्पति॒मृक्व॑भिर्वि॒श्ववा॑रम् ॥ (४)
हे अग्नि! तुम वसुओं के साथ मिलकर इंद्र को एवं रुद्रों के साथ मिलकर महारुद्र को हमारे कल्याण के निमित्त बुलाओ. तुम आदित्यों के साथ मिलकर सबका हित चाहने वाली अदिति को तथा स्तुतियोग्य अंगिरा देवों के साथ मिलकर सबके प्रिय बृहस्पति को बुलाओ. (४)
O agni! You, together with the Vasus, call Indra and along with rudras, the Maharudra for our welfare. Together with the Adityas, you invite aditi, who wants everyone's benefit, and the praiseworthy Angira devas, along with everyone's beloved Jupiter. (4)

म॒न्द्रं होता॑रमु॒शिजो॒ यवि॑ष्ठम॒ग्निं विश॑ ईळते अध्व॒रेषु॑ । स हि क्षपा॑वा॒ँ अभ॑वद्रयी॒णामत॑न्द्रो दू॒तो य॒जथा॑य दे॒वान् ॥ (५)
कामना करते हुए मनुष्य स्तुतियोग्य व अतिशय युवा अग्नि की स्तुति यज्ञों में करते हैं. रात्रि के स्वामी अग्नि यज्ञ के निमित्त हव्यदाता की ओर से आलस्यरहित दूत बने थे. (५)
While wishing, human beings praise the praiseworthy and very young agni in the yagnas. The lord of the night had become a lazy messenger on behalf of the devotee for the sake of the agni yajna. (5)
