सामवेद (अध्याय 20)
अग्ने पावक रोचिषा मन्द्रया देव जिह्वया । आ देवान्वक्षि यक्षि च ॥ (९)
हे अग्नि! आप पवित्र एवं देवताओं को खुश रखने वाले हैं. आप अपनी जिह्वाओं (लपटों) से देवताओं को बुलाइए और देवताओं के लिए यज्ञ कराइए. (९)
O agni! You are holy and keep the gods happy. You call the gods with your tongues (flames) and perform yagna for the gods. (9)
