सामवेद (अध्याय 7)
अभि त्वा शूर नोनुमोऽदुग्धा इव धेनवः । ईशानमस्य जगतः स्वर्दृशमीशानमिन्द्र तस्थुषः ॥ (१)
हे इंद्र! आप शक्तिमान, सर्वज्ञाता व जगत् के स्वामी हैं. जैसे बिना दुही हुई गाएं रंभाती हुई अपने बछड़ों की ओर भागती हैं, वैसे ही हम आप के दर्शन और कृपा के लिए लालायित हैं. (१)
O Indra! You are powerful, omniscient and the master of the world. Just as undoing cows run towards their calves, so we yearn for your vision and grace. (1)
सामवेद (अध्याय 7)
न त्वावाँ अन्यो दिव्यो न पार्थिवो न जातो न जनिष्यते । अश्वायन्तो मघवन्निन्द्र वाजिनो गव्यन्तस्त्वा हवामहे ॥ (२)
हे इंद्र! आप धनवान हैं. आप जैसा न कोई स्वर्गलोक और न इस पृथ्वीलोक में हुआ है और न होगा. हम गोधन व धनधान्य के लिए आप की स्तुति करते हैं. (२)
O Indra! You are rich. No one like you has happened in heaven or earth, nor will it be. We praise you for godhan and wealth. (2)
सामवेद (अध्याय 7)
कया नश्चित्र आ भुवदूती सदावृधः सखा । कया शचिष्ठया वृता ॥ (३)
इंद्र सदैव बढ़ने वाले हैं. वे विलक्षण, अत्यंत शक्तिमान व हमारे सखा हैं. हम किस बुद्धि और किन संतुष्टिदायी पदार्थो से आप की उपासना करें? किनकिन शक्तियों से आप हमारे सहयोगी होंगे? (३)
Indra is always going to grow. He is extraordinary, very powerful and our friend. With what wisdom and what satisfying substances should we worship you? By what powers will you be our ally? (3)
सामवेद (अध्याय 7)
कस्त्वा सत्यो मदानां मँहिष्ठो मत्सदन्धसः । दृढा चिदारुजे वसु ॥ (४)
सोम आदरणीय व सत्यनिष्ठों के लिए आनंददायी हैं. उन्हें आनंद देने में वे सब से आगे हैं. सोम बलवान शत्रुओं के धन को नष्ट करने के लिए इंद्र को उत्साह और सामर्थ्य प्रदान करते हैं. (४)
Som is a delight for the respected and sincere. They are ahead of everyone in giving them pleasure. Soma gives indra enthusiasm and strength to destroy the wealth of strong enemies. (4)
सामवेद (अध्याय 7)
अभी षु णः सखीनामविता जरितॄणाम् । शतं भवास्यूतये ॥ (५)
हे इंद्र! आप हमारे मित्र व यजमानों के संरक्षक हैं. आप हमारी सैकड़ों प्रकार से रक्षा करने के लिए अच्छी तैयारी कर लीजिए. (५)
O Indra! You are our friend and guardian of the hosts. You make good preparations to protect us in hundreds of ways. (5)
सामवेद (अध्याय 7)
तं वो दस्ममृतीषहं वसोर्मन्दानमन्धसः । अभि वत्सं न स्वसरेषु धेनव इन्द्रं गीर्भिर्नवामहे ॥ (६)
गोशाला में गाएं जैसे बछड़ों के लिए लालायित हो कर रंभाती हैं, वैसे ही हम इंद्र की स्तुति के लिए लालायित हो कर प्रार्थना करते हैं. वे शत्रुओं से रक्षा करते हैं. वे प्रकाशमान व सोमरस से संतुष्ट होने वाले हैं. (६)
Just as cows in the cowshed crave for calves, we pray longing for the praise of Indra. They protect against enemies. They are going to be satisfied with Prakashman and Someras. (6)
सामवेद (अध्याय 7)
द्युक्षँ सुदानुं तविषीभिरावृतं गिरिं न पुरुभोजसम् । क्षुमन्तं वाजँ शतिनँ सहस्रिणं मक्षू गोमन्तमीमहे ॥ (७)
हे इंद्र! आप स्वर्गलोकवासी हैं. आप उत्तम दान के दाता, बहुत क्षमतावान व पालनहार हैं. हम सैकड़ोंहजारों की संख्या में गोधन आप से चाहते हैं. हम प्रचुर अन्न, धन आप से चाहते हैं. (७)
O Indra! You are a resident of heaven. You are the giver of good charity, very capable and sustainer. We want hundreds of thousands of godhan from you. We want abundant food, wealth from you. (7)
सामवेद (अध्याय 7)
तरोभिर्वो विदद्वसुमिन्द्रँ सबाध ऊतये । बृहद्गायन्तः सुतसोमे अध्वरे हुवे भरं न कारिणम् ॥ (८)
बच्चे अपनी सहायता के लिए जैसे अपने भरणपोषण करने वालों को पुकारत हैं, वैसे ही हम यजमान अपनी सहायता के लिए इंद्र को पुकारते हैं. इंद्र वेगवान घोड़ों वाले व वैभवशाली हैं. हे याजको! आप सोमयज्ञ में अपनी रक्षा के लिए बृहत्साम का गायन करते हुए उन की उपासना कीजिए. (८)
Just as children call out to those who feed us for their help, we hosts call indra for our help. Indra is fast-paced and glorious. Hey Yazko! You worship him while singing Brihatsam to protect yourself in Somyagya. (8)
