सामवेद (अध्याय 8)
स प्रथमे व्योमनि देवानाँ सदने वृधः । सुपारः सुश्रवस्तमः समप्सुजित् ॥ (११)
हे यजमानो! इंद्र प्रथम देवता हैं. वे आकाश में देवताओं के आवास में निवास करते हैं. वे भलीभांति हमारी रक्षा करते हैं. वे हमें यश प्रदान करते हैं. वे असुर विजेता हैं. हम उन का आह्वान करते हैं. (११)
O hosts! Indra is the first deity. They reside in the abode of the gods in the sky. They protect us well. They give us laurels. They are asura winners. We call upon them. (11)
