यजुर्वेद (अध्याय 7)
चि॒त्रं दे॒वाना॒मुद॑गा॒दनी॑कं॒ चक्षु॑र्मि॒त्रस्य॒ वरु॑णस्या॒ग्नेः। आप्रा॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वीऽअ॒न्तरि॑क्ष॒ꣳ सूर्य॑ऽआ॒त्मा जग॑तस्त॒स्थुष॑श्च॒ स्वाहा॑ ॥ (४२)
मित्र देव वरुण देव और अग्नि देवता के नेत्र हैं. स्वर्गलोक, पृथ्वीलोक तथा अंतरिक्षलोक में सूर्य प्रकाश फैलाते हैं. सूर्य जगत् की आत्मा हैं. इन सब देवों के लिए स्वाहा. सूर्य मित्र देव के नेत्र हैं. वे वरूण देव के नेत्र हैं. वे अग्नि के नेत्र हैं. वे देवताओं के नेत्र हैं. वे स्वर्गलोक को अपने प्रकाश से पूर्णतया प्रकाशित करते हैं. वे पृथ्वीलोक को अपने प्रकाश से पूर्णतया प्रकाशित करते हैं. वे अंतरिक्ष को अपने प्रकाश से पूर्णतया प्रकाशित करते हैं. वे जगत् की आत्मा हैं. उन सूर्य के लिए स्वाहा. Friend Dev is the eyes of Varun Dev and Agni Devta. The sun spreads light in heaven, earth and space. The sun is the soul of the world. For all these gods. Surya Mitra is the eyes of God. They are the eyes of Varun Dev. They are the eyes of agni. They are the eyes of the gods. They illuminate heaven completely with their light. They illuminate the earth completely with their light. They illuminate space completely with their light. They are the soul of the world. Swaha for those suns. (42)
