अथर्ववेद (कांड 11)
सं॒सिचो॒ नाम॒ ते दे॒वा ये सं॑भा॒रान्त्स॒मभ॑रन् । सर्वं॑ सं॒सिच्य॒ मर्त्यं॑ दे॒वाः पुरु॑ष॒मावि॑शन् ॥ (१३)
ज्ञानेंद्रियां, कर्मेद्रियों एवं प्राण, अपान आदि के रूप में जिन साधनों को पहले बताया गया है, उन्हें सृष्टि रचना करने वाले ब्रह्म ने एकत्र किया. उन साधनों से बने शरीर को रक्त, मज्जा आदि से गीला कर के उन देवों ने मरण धर्मा पुरुष का निर्माण कर के आत्मा के रूप में उस में प्रवेश किया. (१३)
The means mentioned earlier in the form of senses, karmedris and prana, apana etc., were collected by Brahma, who created the universe. By wetting the body made by those means with blood, marrow, etc., those gods created the dead dharma purush and entered it as a soul. (13)
