अथर्ववेद (कांड 11)
भूति॑श्च॒ वा अभू॑तिश्च रा॒तयोऽरा॑तयश्च॒ याः । क्षुध॑श्च॒ सर्वा॒स्तृष्णा॑श्च॒ शरी॑र॒मनु॒ प्रावि॑शन् ॥ (२१)
समृद्धि, असमृद्धि अर्थात् संपन्नता और दीनता, मित्र और शत्रु, भूख और प्यास, इन सब ने पुरुष के शरीर में प्रवेश किया. (२१)
Prosperity, unfriendly i.e. prosperity and humility, friends and enemies, hunger and thirst, all these entered the body of the man. (21)
