अथर्ववेद (कांड 18)
यस्मि॑न्दे॒वावि॒दथे॑ मा॒दय॑न्ते वि॒वस्व॑तः॒ सद॑ने धा॒रय॑न्ते । सूर्ये॒ज्योति॒रद॑धुर्मा॒स्यक्तून्परि॑ द्योत॒निं च॑रतो॒ अज॑स्रा ॥ (३५)
जिस अग्नि के यज्ञ पूर्ण कराने वाले रूप से प्रतिष्ठित होने पर देवता प्रसन्न होते हैं तथा जिस के कारण मनुष्य सूर्यलोक में निवास करते हैं, जिस अग्ने ने ही देवताओं के प्रकाशमान तेज को तीनों लोकों में प्रतिष्ठित किया है तथा अंधकार का नाश करने वाली किरणों को जिस से लेकर चंद्रमा में स्थापित किया है, सूर्य और चंद्रमा ऐसे तेजस्वी अग्नि की निरंतर पूजा करते हैं. The agni which is distinguished by the form of the yajna is established by the gods and due to which humans reside in the sunland, the agni which has established the bright radiance of the gods in the three worlds and the rays that destroy darkness from which it has established in the moon, The sun and moon constantly worship such a bright agni.
