अथर्ववेद: | सूक्त: 2
अमा॑सि॒ मात्रां॒स्वरगा॒मायु॑ष्मान्भूयासम् । यथाप॑रं॒ न मासा॑तै श॒ते श॒रत्सु॑ नो पु॒रा ॥ (४५)
मैं ने शमशान की भूमि को नाप लिया है, उसी नाप के द्वारा मैं इस प्रेत को स्वर्ग भेज चुका हूं. उस कर्म से ही में सौ वर्ष की आयु प्राप्त करूं तथा सौ वर्ष से पहले बीच में ही मुझे अन्य श्मशान कर्म प्राप्त न हो. (४५)
I have measured the land of the crematorium, by the same measure I have sent this ghost to heaven. By that karma, I should attain the age of a hundred years and before the hundred years, I should not get any other cremation work in the middle. (45)
