अथर्ववेद (कांड 2)
शं ते॒ वातो॑ अ॒न्तरि॑क्षे॒ वयो॑ धा॒च्छं ते॑ भ॒वन्तु॑ प्र॒दिश॒श्चत॑स्रः । ए॒वाहं त्वां क्षे॑त्रि॒यान्निरृ॑त्या जामिशं॒साद्द्रु॒हो मु॑ञ्चामि॒ वरु॑णस्य॒ पाशा॑त् । अ॑ना॒गसं॒ ब्रह्म॑णा त्वा कृणोमि शि॒वे ते॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी उ॒भे स्ता॑म् ॥ (३)
हे रोगी पुरुष! धरती और आकाश के मध्य तेरे लिए पक्षियों को धारण करने वाली वायु सुखकारी हो. पूर्व, पश्चिम आदि चारों उत्तम दिशाएं तेरे लिए सुखकारी हों. इसी प्रकार मैं तुझे क्षय, कुष्ठ आदि से, रोग के कारण बने हुए पाप देवता से, बांधवों के आक्रोश से, उत्पन्न पाप से, गुरु, देव आदि के द्रोह से एवं वरुण देव के पापों से छुड़ाता हूं. मैं अपने मंत्र से तुझे पाप रहित बनाता हूं. द्यावा और पृथ्वी दोनों तेरे लिए कल्याणकारी हों. O patient man! May the air holding birds be pleasant for you between the earth and the sky. May the best directions like east, west etc. be pleasant for you. Similarly, I rescue you from decay, leprosy, etc., from the sin god caused by disease, from the anger of the captives, from the sin generated, from the treason of guru, dev etc. and from the sins of Varun Dev. I make you sin-free with my mantra. May both the world and the earth be benefactors to you. (3)
