अथर्ववेद (कांड 2)
अ॑शी॒तिभि॑स्ति॒सृभिः॑ साम॒गेभि॑रादि॒त्येभि॒र्वसु॑भि॒रङ्गि॑रोभिः । इ॑ष्टापू॒र्तम॑वतु नः पितॄ॒णामामुं द॑दे॒ हर॑सा॒ दैव्ये॑न ॥ (४)
तीन और अस्सी अर्थात् तिरासी सभा गायन कर्ताओं के, बारह आदमियों के, आठ वसुओं के एवं दीर्घ सत्र का अनुष्ठान करने वाले अंगिरा गोत्रीय ऋषियों के सहयोग से हमारे पूर्वजों ने जो यज्ञ, कुआं एवं बाग से संबंधित उत्तम कर्म किए हैं, वे शत्रुओं से हमारी रक्षा करें. हम अपकार करने वाले शत्रु को जादू टोने रूपी देवता के क्रोध के द्वारा अपने वश में करते हैं. May the best deeds done by our ancestors related to yajna, well and garden with the help of three and eighty-three assembly singers, twelve men, eight vasus and Angira gotriya sages who perform long sessions should protect us from enemies. We control the enemy who is doing evil through the wrath of the god of witchcraft. (4)
