अथर्ववेद (कांड 2)
नेच्छत्रुः॒ प्राशं॑ जयाति॒ सह॑मानाभि॒भूर॑सि । प्राशं॒ प्रति॑प्राशो जह्यर॒सान्कृ॑ण्वोषधे ॥ (१)
हे ग्वारपाठा नामक जड़ी! तुम्हारा सेवन करने वाले वक्ता को उस का विरोधी न जीत सके. तुम्हारा स्वभाव शत्रु को सहन करने का है, इसीलिए तुम प्रतिवादी को पराजित कर देती हो. मुझ प्रश्न पूछने वाले से जो विरोधी प्रतिप्रश्न पूछते हैं, उन को तुम पराजित करो. हे ओषधि! मेरे विरोधी वक्ताओं का गला सुखा दो, जिस से वे बोल न सकें. O herb called guarpatha! The speaker who consumes you cannot win his opponent. Your nature is to tolerate the enemy, that is why you defeat the defendant. Defeat the opponents who ask me questions. O medicine! Dry the throats of my opposing speakers so that they cannot speak. (1)
