अथर्ववेद (कांड 20)
तं वो॑ द॒स्ममृ॑ती॒षहं वसो॑र्मन्दा॒नमन्ध॑सः । अ॒भि व॒त्सं न स्वस॑रेषु धे॒नव॒ इन्द्रं॑ गी॒र्भिर्न॑वामहे ॥ (१)
हे यजमानो! तुम्हारे यज्ञ की पूर्णता तथा तुम्हारे अभीष्ट फल की प्राप्ति के लिए हम स्तुतियों के द्वारा इंद्र से प्रार्थना करते हैं. इंद्र दर्शनीय और दुःख विनाशक हैं. इंद्र सोम पीने के हर्ष से पूर्ण रहते हैं. गाएं सायं और प्रातःकाल रंभाती हुई जिस प्रकार अपने बछड़ों के पास जाती हैं, उसी प्रकार हम भी स्तुति करते हुए इंद्र की ओर जाते हैं. O hosts! We pray to Indra through praises for the completion of your yajna and for the attainment of your desired results. Indra is visible and sorrow-destroying. Indra Som is full of the joy of drinking. Just as the cows go to their calves in the evening and morning, we also go towards Indra praising. (1)
