अथर्ववेद (कांड 6)
वै॑श्वान॒रः प॑वि॒ता मा॑ पुनातु॒ यत्सं॑ग॒रम॑भि॒धावा॑म्या॒शाम् । अना॑जान॒न्मन॑सा॒ याच॑मानो॒ यत्तत्रैनो॒ अप॒ तत्सु॑वामि ॥ (३)
सभी भावों को पवित्र करने वाले अग्नि मुझे पवित्र करें. मैं ने ऋण चुकाने एवं यज्ञ करने का जो वचन दिया है तथा मैं देवों में जो आशा उत्पन्न करता हूं, उन के ऋण को चुकाता नहीं हूं. मैं अपने मन से लौकिक सुखों की याचना करता हूं. इस प्रकार के असत्य भाषण में जो पाप है, उसे मैं दूर करता हूं. (३)
May the agni that sanctifies all emotions sanctify me. I do not repay the debts of the debts and the promises I have made to perform yagna and the hope I instill in the gods. I plead for cosmic pleasures from my mind. I remove the sin in this kind of untrue speech. (3)
