हे अग्नि! तुम्हारे ज्वाला रूप शरीर के तीक्ष्ण तेज को मरणधर्मा पुरुष प्राप्त नहीं कर सकता. ये बंदर के समान चंचल स्वभाव वाली और शरीर के जल को पीने वाली तुम्हारी ज्वालाएं इस देह को उसी प्रकार भस्म कर देती हैं, जिस प्रकार पहली बार बच्चा देने वाली गाय अपनी जेर को खा जाती है. (१)
O agni! The man of death cannot attain the sharp radiance of your flame-like body. Your flames, which have a playful nature like a monkey and drink the water of the body, consume this body in the same way as the cow that gives a child for the first time eats its jer. (1)
हे अग्नि! मेढ़ा जिस प्रकार अधिक घास वाले स्थान पर जाता है और घास चरने के पश्चात उस स्थान से अन्यत्र चला जाता है, उसी प्रकार तुम पहले जलाने योग्य पुरुष शरीर के अंगों से मिलते हो और बाद में उसे जलाने के बाद अन्यत्र चले जाते हो. वन को जलाने वाली दावाग्नि और शव को जलाने वाली शवाग्नि-ये दोनों अग्नियां वृक्ष अथवा शव को भस्म करती हुई अपनी ज्वालाओं से लता आदि को भी जला देती हैं. (२)
O agni! Just as the ram goes to a place with more grass and after grazing the grass, it goes elsewhere, in the same way you first meet the burning male body parts and later after burning it, you go elsewhere. The agni that burns the forest and the body-burning agni - these two agnis also burn the creeper etc. with their flames while consuming the tree or body. (2)
हे अग्नि! तुम्हारी ज्वालाएं बाज पक्षी के समान शीघ्र व्यापक होने वाली हैं. काला हरिण जिस प्रकार अपने निवास स्थान में गति करता है, उसी प्रकार तुम्हारी ज्वालाएं समीप आ कर नृत्य करती है. धुआं उत्पन्न करने के कारण तुम्हारी ज्वालाएं मेघ का निर्माण करती हैं. हे अग्नि! तुम्हारी दीप्तियां सूर्य मंडल को पा कर सभी प्राणियों के जीवन के आधार जल को उत्पन्न करती हैं. (३)
O agni! Your flames are going to be as widespread as a hawk bird soon. Just as the black deer moves in its habitat, your flames come close and dance. Due to the production of smoke, your flames form clouds. O agni! Your radiances reach the solar system and produce water, the basis of the life of all beings. (3)
