अथर्ववेद (कांड 7)
प्र॒जाप॑तिर्जनयति प्र॒जा इ॒मा धा॒ता द॑धातु सुमन॒स्यमा॑नः । सं॑जाना॒नाः संम॑नसः॒ सयो॑नयो॒ मयि॑ पु॒ष्टं पु॑ष्ट॒पति॑र्दधातु ॥ (१)
प्रजापति इस पुत्र, पौत्र आदि रूप प्रजा को उत्पन्न करें तथा अनुकूल मन वाले धाता इस प्रजा का पोषण करें. ये प्रजाएं समान ज्ञान वाली, मिले हुए मन वाली और समान कारण वाली हों. पुष्टपति नाम के देव मुझे प्रजा विषयक पोषण प्रदान करें. (१)
Prajapati should produce the people in the form of this son, grandson etc. and nurture this people with a favorable mind. These subjects should be of the same knowledge, of mixed mind and of the same reason. May the god named Pushtapati give me the nourishment of the people. (1)
