अथर्ववेद (कांड 7)
स॒प्त क्ष॑रन्ति॒ शिश॑वे म॒रुत्व॑ते पि॒त्रे पु॒त्रासो॒ अप्य॑वीवृतन्नृ॒तानि॑ । उ॒भे इद॑स्यो॒भे अ॑स्य राजत उ॒भे य॑तेते उ॒भे अ॑स्य पुष्यतः ॥ (२)
मरुतों से युक्त एवं जलों के पुत्र वरुण के लिए सात नदियां बहती हैं. झुलोक में स्थित इंद्र के निमित्त मनुष्य यज्ञ आदि कर्म करते हैं. वे यज्ञकर्म देवों और मानवों के संघ के निवास स्थान होते हैं एवं आकाश और धरती इन देवों और मनुष्यों के ऐश्वर्य बनते हैं. आकाश और धरती इन देवों तथा मनुष्यों के लिए प्रयत्न करते हैं तथा अन्न, जल आदि से पोषण करते हैं. Seven rivers flow for Varuna, the son of waters and full of maruts. For the sake of Indra located in jhlok, human beings perform yagya etc. Those yajnakarmas are the abode of the union of gods and human beings and the sky and the earth become the opulence of these gods and human beings. The sky and the earth strive for these gods and human beings and nourish them with food, water etc. (2)
