अथर्ववेद (कांड 7)
यो अ॒ग्नौ रु॒द्रो यो अ॒प्स्वन्तर्य ओष॑धीर्वी॒रुध॑ आवि॒वेश॑ । य इ॒मा विश्वा॒ भुव॑नानि चा॒क्लृ॒पे तस्मै॑ रु॒द्राय॒ नमो॑ अस्त्व॒ग्नये॑ ॥ (१)
जो रुद्रदेव यज्ञ करने योग्य होने के कारण अग्ने में प्रवेश कर गए हैं तथा जिन्होंने वरुण के रूप में जलों में प्रवेश किया है, जिन्होंने वृक्षों, लताओं और जड़ीबूटियों में स्थान प्राप्त किया है, रुद्र इन सभी प्राणियों का निर्माण करने में समर्थ हुए हैं, उन अग्नि रूप रुद्र को नमस्कार है. (१)
