अथर्ववेद (कांड 7)
अपे॒ह्यरि॑र॒स्यरि॒र्वा अ॑सि वि॒षे वि॒षम॑पृक्था वि॒षमिद्वा अ॑पृक्थाः । अहि॑मे॒वाभ्यपे॑हि॒ तं ज॑हि ॥ (१)
हे सर्पविष! तू इस डसे हुए पुरुष के शरीर से दूर चला जा, क्योंकि तू शत्रु है. तू केवल इस का ही नहीं, सभी मनुष्यों का श्रु है, इसीलिए तू विषैले सर्प में ही अपना विष संयुक्त कर. तू अपना विषैला प्रभाव ही संयुक्त कर. हे विष! तू जिस सर्प का है, उसी के समीप जा तथा उसी का विनाश कर. (१)
O serpent! Go away from the body of this bitten man, for you are the enemy. You are not only the source of this, but of all men, so combine your poison in the poisonous serpent. You combine your toxic effect itself. O poison! Go near the serpent you belong to and destroy it. (1)
