अथर्ववेद (कांड 8)
षडा॑हुः शी॒तान्षडु॑ मा॒स उ॒ष्णानृ॒तुं नो॒ ब्रूत॑ यत॒मोऽति॑रिक्तः । स॒प्त सु॑प॒र्णाः क॒वयो॒ नि षे॑दुः स॒प्त च्छन्दां॒स्यनु॑ स॒प्त दी॒क्षाः ॥ (१७)
छः मास शीत ऋतु के और छः मास ग्रीष्म ऋतु के कहे गए हैं. हमें सत्य बताओ कि उन के अतिरिक्त कीन है. विद्वान् लोग सात सुंदर पर्णो, सात छंदों और सात दीक्षाओं को जानते हैं. (१७)
Six months are said to be of winter season and six months of summer season. Tell us the truth that there is an addition to them. Scholars know the seven beautiful leaves, seven verses and seven initiations. (17)
