ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
त्वम॑ग्ने॒ सह॑सा॒ सह॑न्तमः शु॒ष्मिन्त॑मो जायसे दे॒वता॑तये र॒यिर्न दे॒वता॑तये । शु॒ष्मिन्त॑मो॒ हि ते॒ मदो॑ द्यु॒म्निन्त॑म उ॒त क्रतुः॑ । अध॑ स्मा ते॒ परि॑ चरन्त्यजर श्रुष्टी॒वानो॒ नाज॑र ॥ (९)
हे अग्नि! तुम भी धन के समान देवों के यज्ञ के निमित्त ही उत्पन्न होते हो. तुम अपने बल से शत्रुनाश करते हो एवं तेजस्वी हो. हव्य स्वीकार से उत्पन्न तुम्हारा हर्ष अत्यंत बलवान् एवं तुम्हारा यज्ञ परम यशस्वी होता है. हे जरारहित एवं भक्तों की जरा का निवारण करने वाले अग्नि! यजमान दूतों के समान तुम्हारी सेवा करते हैं. O fire! You are also born like money for the sacrifice of the gods. You destroy hate by your own force and are brilliant. Your joy produced by accepting the vow is very strong and your yajna is the most successful. O fire without the slightest and the one that will remove the little of the devotees! Hosts serve you like messengers. (9)
