ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
प्र तव्य॑सीं॒ नव्य॑सीं धी॒तिम॒ग्नये॑ वा॒चो म॒तिं सह॑सः सू॒नवे॑ भरे । अ॒पां नपा॒द्यो वसु॑भिः स॒ह प्रि॒यो होता॑ पृथि॒व्यां न्यसी॑ददृ॒त्वियः॑ ॥ (१)
मैं बल के पुत्र, जल के नाती, यजमान के प्रिय एवं यज्ञ संपन्नकर्ता व यथासमय धन के साथ यज्ञवेदी पर बैठने वाले अग्नि के निमित्त यह अतिशयवर्धक एवं नवीनतम यज्ञ करता हूं तथा स्तुति पढ़ता हूं. (१)
I perform this very encouraging and latest yajna and recite the praises for the son of the force, the grandson of water, the beloved and the sacrificial doer of the host and the fire that sits on the yajna-vedi with money in due course. (1)

स जाय॑मानः पर॒मे व्यो॑मन्या॒विर॒ग्निर॑भवन्मात॒रिश्व॑ने । अ॒स्य क्रत्वा॑ समिधा॒नस्य॑ म॒ज्मना॒ प्र द्यावा॑ शो॒चिः पृ॑थि॒वी अ॑रोचयत् ॥ (२)
वे अग्नि विस्तृत आकाश देश में उत्पन्न होकर सबसे प्रथम मातरिश्वा के समीप पहुंचे. इसके पश्चात् वे ईधन द्वारा भली-भांति बढ़े और प्रबल यज्ञकर्म द्वारा उनकी ज्वाला ने धरती और आकाश को प्रकाशित किया. (२)
Those fires originated in the vast sky country and first came close to Matrishwa. After this, they grew well by fuel, and by a strong sacrificial act, their flame illuminated the earth and the sky. (2)

अ॒स्य त्वे॒षा अ॒जरा॑ अ॒स्य भा॒नवः॑ सुसं॒दृशः॑ सु॒प्रती॑कस्य सु॒द्युतः॑ । भात्व॑क्षसो॒ अत्य॒क्तुर्न सिन्ध॑वो॒ऽग्ने रे॑जन्ते॒ अस॑सन्तो अ॒जराः॑ ॥ (३)
शोभनमुख अग्नि की जरारहित दीप्ति एवं सुदृश्य तथा सब दिशाओं में प्रकाशमान चिनगारियां शक्तिशालिनी हैं. अग्नि की गतिशील एवं कांपती हुई लपटें रात्रि का अंधकार नष्ट करती हैं. (३)
The slightly dimmed and well-sightedness of the shobno-oriented fire and the sparks that luminate in all directions are shaktishalini. The dynamic and trembling flames of fire destroy the darkness of the night. (3)

यमे॑रि॒रे भृग॑वो वि॒श्ववे॑दसं॒ नाभा॑ पृथि॒व्या भुव॑नस्य म॒ज्मना॑ । अ॒ग्निं तं गी॒र्भिर्हि॑नुहि॒ स्व आ दमे॒ य एको॒ वस्वो॒ वरु॑णो॒ न राज॑ति ॥ (४)
भृगुवंशी यजमानों ने समस्त प्राणियों की बलप्राप्ति के उद्देश्य से जिन सर्वधन संपन्न अग्नि को स्थापित किया है, उन अग्नि को अपने घर में ले जाकर स्तुति करो. वे अग्नि मुख्य हैं एवं वरुण के समान समस्त धनों के स्वामी हैं. (४)
Take the all-rich fire that the Bhriguvanshi hosts have established for the purpose of the strength of all beings, take those fires to your home and praise it. He is the fire chief and is the master of all wealth like Varuna. (4)

न यो वरा॑य म॒रुता॑मिव स्व॒नः सेने॑व सृ॒ष्टा दि॒व्या यथा॒शनिः॑ । अ॒ग्निर्जम्भै॑स्तिगि॒तैर॑त्ति॒ भर्व॑ति यो॒धो न शत्रू॒न्स वना॒ न्यृ॑ञ्जते ॥ (५)
जो अग्नि वायु के शब्द, प्रबल आक्रमणकारी की सेना एवं दिव्य वज्र के समान निवारण नहीं किए जा सकते, वे अपने तीखे दांतों से शत्रुओं की उसी प्रकार हिंसा करें, जिस प्रकार वनों को जलाते हैं. (५)
Those who cannot be remedied like the words of fire and wind, the army of the strong invader and the divine thunderbolt, should do violence against the enemies with their sharp teeth in the same way as they burn the forests. (5)

कु॒विन्नो॑ अ॒ग्निरु॒चथ॑स्य॒ वीरस॒द्वसु॑ष्कु॒विद्वसु॑भिः॒ काम॑मा॒वर॑त् । चो॒दः कु॒वित्तु॑तु॒ज्यात्सा॒तये॒ धियः॒ शुचि॑प्रतीकं॒ तम॒या धि॒या गृ॑णे ॥ (६)
ये अग्नि हमारे स्तोत्र की बार-बार कामना करें. सबको निवास प्रदान करने वाले अग्नि धनों से हमारी कामना पूरी करें. अग्नि यज्ञ की प्रेरणा देने वाले बनकर हमें यज्ञकर्म के लाभ के लिए बार-बार प्रेरित करें. मैं शोभन ज्वाला वाले अग्ने के प्रति स्तुति का उच्चारण करता हूं. (६)
Let this fire wish for our hymns again and again. Fulfill our wish with the fire money that provides residence to all. By becoming the instigators of agni yajna, motivate us again and again for the benefit of yajnakarma. I utter praise for the agnee with the shobhan flame. (6)

घृ॒तप्र॑तीकं व ऋ॒तस्य॑ धू॒र्षद॑म॒ग्निं मि॒त्रं न स॑मिधा॒न ऋ॑ञ्जते । इन्धा॑नो अ॒क्रो वि॒दथे॑षु॒ दीद्य॑च्छु॒क्रव॑र्णा॒मुदु॑ नो यंसते॒ धिय॑म् ॥ (७)
यज्ञ का निर्वाह करने वाले एवं दीप्त ज्वालाओं वाले अग्नि को मित्र के समान जलाते हुए सुशोभित किया जाता है. भली-भांति प्रदीप्ति अग्नि यज्ञां में प्रज्वलित होते हुए हमारी यात्रादि विषयक निर्मल बुद्धि को जगाते हैं. (७)
The fire that performs the yajna and the flames of the bright flames is adorned with burning like a friend. The well-lit fire ignites in the yagnas and awakens our travel-related pure intellect. (7)

अप्र॑युच्छ॒न्नप्र॑युच्छद्भिरग्ने शि॒वेभि॑र्नः पा॒युभिः॑ पाहि श॒ग्मैः । अद॑ब्धेभि॒रदृ॑पितेभिरि॒ष्टेऽनि॑मिषद्भिः॒ परि॑ पाहि नो॒ जाः ॥ (८)
हे अग्नि! बिना प्रमाद के निरंतर मंगलकारी एवं सुखद रक्षणों से हमारा कल्याण करो. हे इष्ट! तुम निमेषरहित एवं अहिंसक उपायों से हमारी एवं हमारी संतान की रक्षा करो. (८)
O fire! Do us well with constant auspicious and pleasant protections without pride. O favor! Protect us and our children by means of non-violent and non-violent means. (8)
