तं पृ॑च्छता॒ स ज॑गामा॒ स वे॑द॒ स चि॑कि॒त्वाँ ई॑यते॒ सा न्वी॑यते । तस्मि॑न्सन्ति प्र॒शिष॒स्तस्मि॑न्नि॒ष्टयः॒ स वाज॑स्य॒ शव॑सः शु॒ष्मिण॒स्पतिः॑ ॥ (१)
हे यजमानो! उन अग्नि से पूछो. वे सर्वत्र जाते हैं, इसलिए वे ही जानते हैं. वे ही चेतना वाले हैं. वे ही जानने योग्य बात को जानने के लिए शीघ्र जाते हैं. अग्नि में प्रशासन की योग्यता है एवं उन्हीं में सर्वफलसाधक यज्ञ की क्षमता है. वे ही अन्न, बल एवं बलवान्‌ के पालनकर्ता हैं. (१)
O hosts! Ask those fires. They go everywhere, so they know. They are the same consciousness ones. They only go quickly to learn the only thing worth knowing. Agni has the ability to administer and they have the capacity for sarvaphalasadhak yajna. They are the keepers of food, force and strength. (1)
