त्वम॑ग्ने प्रथ॒मो अङ्गि॑रस्तमः क॒विर्दे॒वानां॒ परि॑ भूषसि व्र॒तम् । वि॒भुर्विश्व॑स्मै॒ भुव॑नाय॒ मेधि॑रो द्विमा॒ता श॒युः क॑ति॒धा चि॑दा॒यवे॑ ॥ (२)
हे अग्नि! तुम अंगिरा गोत्र वाले ऋषियों में प्रथम एवं सर्वश्रेष्ठ हो. तुम बुद्धिमान्‌ हो और देवों के यज्ञों को सुशोभित करते हो. तुम सारे संसार पर अनुग्रह के लिए अनेक रूप से व्याप्त हो. तुम मेधावी एवं दो लकड़ियों से उत्पन्न हो. मनुष्यों का कल्याण करने के लिए तुम भिन्नभिन्न रूपों में सब जगह रहते हो. O agni! You are the first and the best of the sages of the Angira tribe. You are wise and adorn the sacrifices of the gods. You are many in many ways pervading the whole world for grace. You are brilliant and born of two woods. For the welfare of human beings, you live everywhere in different forms. (2)
