ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
तक्ष॒द्यत्त॑ उ॒शना॒ सह॑सा॒ सहो॒ वि रोद॑सी म॒ज्मना॑ बाधते॒ शवः॑ । आ त्वा॒ वात॑स्य नृमणो मनो॒युज॒ आ पूर्य॑माणमवहन्न॒भि श्रवः॑ ॥ (१०)
हे इंद्र! जब शुक्र ने अपने बल के सहयोग से तुम्हारी शक्ति को तीक्ष्ण कर दिया था, तब तुम्हारे उस विशुद्ध बल ने अपनी तीक्ष्णता द्वारा धरती और आकाश को भयभीत बना दिया था. हे यजमानों के प्रति अनुग्रहबुद्धि रखने वाले इंद्र! बल से पूर्ण तुम्हारी इच्छा से रथ में जोड़े गए एवं वायु के समान वेगशाली घोड़े तुम्हें यज्ञअन्न के सम्मुख ले आवें. (१०)
O Indra! When Venus sharpened your power with the help of his force, that pure force of yours made the earth and the sky in fear with its sharpness. O Indra, who has a gracious attitude towards the hosts! Complete by force, by your will, be added to the chariot and let the horse as fast as the wind bring you in front of the yajnaanna. (10)
