ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
क॒था दा॑शेमा॒ग्नये॒ कास्मै॑ दे॒वजु॑ष्टोच्यते भा॒मिने॒ गीः । यो मर्त्ये॑ष्व॒मृत॑ ऋ॒तावा॒ होता॒ यजि॑ष्ठ॒ इत्कृ॒णोति॑ दे॒वान् ॥ (१)
मरणरहित, सत्ययुक्त, देवों का आह्वान करने वाले, यज्ञ पूर्ण कराने वाले एवं मनुष्यों के बीच निवास करके भी देवों को हवियुक्त करने वाले अग्नि के अनुरूप हव्य हम कैसे दे सकेंगे? हम तेजस्वी अग्नि के प्रति देवोचित स्तुति किस प्रकार करेंगे. (१)
How can we give a good deed according to the agni that is without death, the one who calls upon the gods, the one who performs the yagna, and who dwells among men? How will we praise the glorious agni? (1)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
यो अ॑ध्व॒रेषु॒ शंत॑म ऋ॒तावा॒ होता॒ तमू॒ नमो॑भि॒रा कृ॑णुध्वम् । अ॒ग्निर्यद्वेर्मर्ता॑य दे॒वान्स चा॒ बोधा॑ति॒ मन॑सा यजाति ॥ (२)
हे यजमानो! जो अग्नि यज्ञों में अतिशय सुखकारी, यथार्थदर्शी और देवों का आह्वान करने वाले हैं, उन्हें स्तुतियों द्वारा हमारे अभिमुख करो. जिस समय अग्नि यजमान के निमित्त देवों के समीप जाते हैं, उस समय वे देवों को यज्ञपात्र जानकर मन से उनकी पूजा करते हैं. (२)
O hosts! Those who are very pleasant, realistic and exhortation of gods in the agni yajnas, face us by praises. At the time when they approach the gods for the sake of the agni host, at that time they worship the gods with their heart by knowing them as yajnapatras. (2)

स हि क्रतुः॒ स मर्यः॒ स सा॒धुर्मि॒त्रो न भू॒दद्भु॑तस्य र॒थीः । तं मेधे॑षु प्रथ॒मं दे॑व॒यन्ती॒र्विश॒ उप॑ ब्रुवते द॒स्ममारीः॑ ॥ (३)
देवों की अभिलाषा करने वाली प्रजाएं यज्ञकर्ता, विश्वसंहारक, उत्पादनकर्ता, मित्र के समान अप्राप्त धन के प्राप्त कराने वाले एवं दर्शनीय अग्नि के समीप जाकर उन्हें यज्ञ का प्रधान देव मानतीं एवं उनकी स्तुति करती हैं. (३)
The people who desire the gods, like the yagyakarta, the destroyer, the creator, the producer, the friend, the recipient of unaccounted wealth and go near the visible agni and consider him as the chief god of the yajna and praise him. (3)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
स नो॑ नृ॒णां नृत॑मो रि॒शादा॑ अ॒ग्निर्गिरोऽव॑सा वेतु धी॒तिम् । तना॑ च॒ ये म॒घवा॑नः॒ शवि॑ष्ठा॒ वाज॑प्रसूता इ॒षय॑न्त॒ मन्म॑ ॥ (४)
यज्ञ के नेताओं के मध्य अतिशय नेता एवं शत्रुओं के भक्षणकर्ता अग्नि हमारी स्तुतियों एवं हव्य से युक्त यज्ञ की कामना करें. जो धनी और शक्तिशाली यजमान हव्य प्रदान करके अग्नि के मननीय स्तोत्र को करना चाहते हैं, अग्नि भी उनकी स्तुति की कामना करें. (४)
Among the leaders of the yajna, the most leaders and eaters of enemies, may agni, wish us a yajna with praises and havans. Those who want to do the meditative hymn of agni by providing the rich and powerful host's greeting, let the agni also wish for their praise. (4)
ऋग्वेद (मंडल 1)
ए॒वाग्निर्गोत॑मेभिरृ॒तावा॒ विप्रे॑भिरस्तोष्ट जा॒तवे॑दाः । स ए॑षु द्यु॒म्नं पी॑पय॒त्स वाजं॒ स पु॒ष्टिं या॑ति॒ जोष॒मा चि॑कि॒त्वान् ॥ (५)
यज्ञ के स्वामी एवं सर्वज्ञाता अग्नि की गौतम आदि ऋषियों ने इसी प्रकार स्तुति की थी. अन्ने ने प्रसन्न होकर उन ऋषियों का तेजस्वी सोम पिया था एवं अन्न भक्षण किया था. वे अग्नि हमारे द्वारा दिए हव्य को जानकर पुष्ट होते हैं. (५)
The lord of the yajna and the omniscient agni was similarly praised by gautama etc. sages. Anne was pleased to have drunk the bright som of those sages and ate food. Those agnis are confirmed by knowing the details we have given. (5)
